Melissa Leong has undergone an unexpected eye surgery.

The former MasterChef star shared images to Instagram in which her eye was bandaged after a procedure to fix a chalazion.

A chalazion is an inflammatory lesion of the eyelid, where a lump forms due to blockage of an oil gland.

‘I’m okay! Just a minor impromptu eye surgery for a chalazion,’ she explained in her caption, joking that she was ‘trying out a new look’.

‘Thank you to the amazing team for making the whole experience far less scary than I built it up to be,’ she said.

Melissa’s career has gone from strength to strength since she was dumped from MasterChef last year.

The 42-year-old is now primed for an international television career according to a new report.

There are ‘whispers’ that she has ‘caught the attention of other international MasterChef formats including MasterChef Asia and MasterChef Singapore’ the Herald Sun reported.

The publication went on to claim that Melissa has attracted a growing fanbase in the UK, South Africa and New Zealand thanks to episodes of MasterChef airing around the world.

The Channel Ten star, who has moved onto a new role as a judge on Dessert Masters, hinted at big career moves ahead in a post to Instagram made in December.

‘For those who supported and believed in me; a huge and heartfelt thank you. And for those who didn’t… you’re going to thoroughly hate what’s coming next!’ she wrote in her caption.

The food critic was dropped from MasterChef last year amid rumours of a feud between herself and fellow judges Andy Allen and the late Jock Zonfrillo, which she has denied.

She went on to host MasterChef spinoff series Dessert Masters alongside Amaury Guichon, who is billed as the world’s hottest pastry chef.

Her enthusiasm was palpable when recently speaking to Daily Mail about her new hosting gig on Dessert Masters, describing it as a ‘dream come true’.
