A fan-favorite McDonald’s sandwich is returning to menus later this year, after an initial run saw the wildly popular item pulled from restaurants due to overwhelming demand.
The fast-food chain’s Chicken Big Mac will be available in restaurants nationwide, though a date has not been specified. McDonald’s tested the sandwich in 2022 at some of its Miami, Florida locations.
The sandwich sold out in mere days after appearing on menus in the UK in 2022, leaving diners ‘devastated’ and ‘heartbroken.’
‘Your love for the limited edition Chicken Big Mac knew no bounds and it’s sold out almost everywhere,’ McDonald’s UK tweeted at the time.

‘The Chicken Big Mac is going to be exactly the same as the original except that instead of the two “all beef patties,” you will be getting two “tempura chicken patties,”‘ Snackolator wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski did a taste test of the sandwich in a video posted by the chain this week.
‘One of the things I did like about this Chicken Big Mac is the crunchiness of the chicken,’ the CEO said.
‘The Big Mac sauce works great with this,’ he added.
Diners outside the US had great things to say about the Chicken Big Mac.
‘We had it in Canada last year, and it was actually good. It was like a big chicken nugget in between the Big Mac toppings,’ a commenter wrote on Snackolator’s post.

Another eater added: ‘Puerto Rico has had this on their menu for a long time. It’s about time they had it here.’
Others who have experienced the sandwich said they hailed from Italy, the Netherlands, and Peru.
‘I’m shocked it took them this long to do something like this,’ a commenter wrote.
Some were simply excited to have something new.
‘I don’t eat McDonald’s but I will be trying this,’ one commenter said.
