MasterChef: The Professionals saw Cameron eliminated from the competition on Thursday night after leaving the judges and critics underwhelmed with his dishes.

The first quarter-final saw the strongest five chefs from the first two heats return to battle it out to secure their place in the final.

During the episode, Cameron, 25, was up against stiff opposition as he went head-to-head with Rosie, 34, Dara, 36, Charlie, 22, and Tommy, 27.

The chefs skills were first tested during the Invention Test in a dish which had to contain nuts before they went on to present two courses to the critics.

However, after making it through the first round unfortunately Cameron didn’t see the same success in the second heat.

Headed home: MasterChef: The Professionals saw Cameron, 25, eliminated from the competition on Thursday after leaving the judges and critics underwhelmed with his dishes

Departing the competition, he said: ‘What an experience, having the space to put myself out there. I am very proud of myself!’

For the first task judges Marcus Wareing and Gregg Wallace gave the five chefs a selection of nuts, including nut butter, to construct their chosen dishes in an attempt to impress.

While all the contestants decided to create a dessert, Tommy went against the grain and opted for a savoury duck dish.

‘You absolutely smashed this brief to pieces,’ exclaimed Marcus.

Next, Charlie created a frangipane tart while Cameron opted for a chocolate cremeux.

Dara’s dessert unfortunately left the judges disappointed, while Rosie opted for an orange and pistachio frangipane, which blew the judges away.

Following the task, Greg announced that the chef that would be leaving the competition was Dara.

‘I am disappointed in myself but there were four other chefs in the kitchen today and I knew what I was going up against. They are really great people,’ he said.

The four chefs through to the next round then had to impress three of the countries leading food critics: Jay Rayner, Leyla Kazim and Tracey MacLeod.

Tasked with creating a total of eight dishes in 1 hour and 15 minutes, the heat was on as the contestants prepared their two course menu.

Tommy admitted: ‘The time frame is something that I am most worried about. I am organised and structured but in that kitchen anything can happen.’

Rosie decided to take the judges to Mexico with her menu, cooking up a scallop and tostada starter followed by pork cheek – that the critics branded ‘perfect.’

Charlie later impressed with his ceviche starter and whole brill main course, with Marcus hailing it the ‘dish of the day.’

Tommy then served up cured sea bass for his starter with the judges disagreeing on whether the watermelon complimented the fish or not.

However, his roast saddle of lamb proved to be a hit, receiving both the judges and the critics impressed.

Cameron chose cook a mackerel starter, followed by a monkfish main and while the judges agreed it was a ‘decent dish’ they were left underwhelmed as he played it safe.

It comes after MasterChef: The Professionals saw a very dramatic moment on Tuesday night’s episode as one contestant had to leave one of the challenges on medical grounds after a nasty accident.

Brazilian chef Cristina Maia, 51, was left needing to see a doctor and pulled out of the Signature Menu round when her blender exploded covering her in boiling hot bisque.

Judge Gregg explained the nasty accident happened after she put the hot liquid into a blender and when she released the lid it shot out everywhere.

After the explosion she was covered in the orange liquid while the floor was splattered with mess.

Ouch: It comes after MasterChef saw a very dramatic moment on Tuesday night’s episode as one contestant had to leave one of the challenges on medical grounds after a nasty accident

As soon as the accident happened one of the medical crew on set dashed over to assist her as he held a cold towel to her chin where most of the damage was.

Gregg could be heard screaming ‘woah’ as she apologised before he reassured her.

Later in the show the judges Gregg, Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing discussed how it was a shame she couldn’t carry on as Gregg quipped: ‘Accidents happen!’

A snap then flashed up on the screen of Cristina at the hospital with a bandage over her chin as she bravely smiled.
