Married At First Sight bride Lucinda Light has opened up about her failed ‘marriage’ to Timothy Smith after the couple ended their relationship on the show on Sunday night.

The 43-year-old revealed the fan favourites were just two very different people in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail .

‘I think it was just realising I want something different for myself,’ she said.

‘It’s not to say that I deserve better than Tim because Tim’s an absolute legend and a half, but I think we do really do life differently and have different expectations around our day to day, our emotions, our feelings, our relationships all about.’

During their Melbourne homestay, Lucinda said she felt a massive shift, especially after speaking with Timothy’s friends.

‘Melbourne came to a bit of a crescendo in many ways. And I think the penny dropped for me somewhat when I spoke to his friends, who say that he’s actually a really doting and nurturing partner, it just wasn’t, it hadn’t been my experience,’ she explained.

Timothy, 51, and Lucinda were one of the only couples to remain on the show until the final weeks without ever consummating their marriage.

She some of their issues came down to the fact that Timothy was still very much grieving the death of his father.

‘And look, I think a lot of that is to do with the fact that Tim was grieving. His dad, there’s a lot going on for Tim personally,’ she empathised.

'It's not to say that I deserve better than Tim because Tim's an absolute legend and a half, but I think we do really do life differently and have different expectations around our day to day, our emotions, our feelings, our relationships all about,' she explained

She added that she struggled being with someone who’s so different in dealing with emotions.

‘Everything from his dad dying recently, to, just feeling the stresses of the show,’ she explained.

‘Being matched with somebody that is really into communication and sharing feelings, it was exhausting for Tim.

‘I was way more than he bargained for, I’m certainly a very acquired case not for everybody, and I like to get into the nitty gritty of all of that and it’s just not his usual lingo.’

She said their journey also had too many ups and downs.

‘Homestays was the big one, but the whole journey was flickered with, ”Oh God, I don’t know if he’s in to me, and then little glimmers of hope It was a mixed bag,” she said.

‘I deserve better than that’

She added that the final nail in the coffin for their relationship was Timothy’s absence at a crucial time during the Homestays week.

‘Oh look, I understood that he needed time alone with his dogs and I did, I said ”go on and have a walk,” and he did. But I was a bit disappointed about being stood up because I had plans,’ she explained.

‘I didn’t get any communication. I didn’t get a text. I didn’t get a call. And I think I deserve better than that.’

Reflecting on her own personal growth, Lucinda said she also has some work to do on herself.

‘I’ve learned that I’m a leaf blower and that I’m way too much… I can get a little bit in the mother rescue sort of therapy role… I want to be somebody’s partner, a co-creator, a co-visionary. So I’m looking at myself,’ she said.

As for her current relationship with Timothy, it seems the pair have found a friendship that works better than a relationship.

‘We are super good mates. So much love. I almost speak to him every day,’ Lucinda said.

When asked if she would consider returning to the show, Lucinda said she was content with her one-time reality show journey.

‘I don’t know if I’d do this show again. Yeah,  I don’t think so. No,’ she explained.

‘But look, I’ve got no regrets that I did the show. It’s also the gift that keeps on giving and the love has been exponential.’
