Married At First Sight’s Jono McCullough has taken to social media to plead with trolls to be considerate in a raw video.

In an emotional plea shared on social media, the 39-year-old Gold Coast-based groom has opened up, urging detractors to show empathy.

In it, the reality TV star addressed the harsh criticism he’s faced since his cheating scandal with fellow bride Ellie Dix was exposed at the reunion.

‘So this goes out to all the haters, all the people who’ve said all the negative comments. I get it. I understand,’ he confessed, bearing the weight of the judgment.

‘People ask me, do you hate the trolls? And I say ‘no’, because, if I saw what they saw, I’d probably feel the same way. I probably wouldn’t go as far as some people have.’

‘There’s been some pretty horrible stuff… And, no matter how strong you are, it takes a toll. It does,’ he continued.

‘It’s been hard getting up each morning and, being confronted by all the negativity.’

Jono concluded the video thanking all the people who have sent love and support.

The post was echoed by mixed reaction from fans, who highlighted the artificial nature of reality TV.

‘It’s sad that people don’t realise that the show is just that, a highly cut and paste SHOW, and sad that watchers have nothing else in their lives other than aggression towards something that’s not real,’ one viewer wrote.

Former MAFS groom Adam Seed, who appeared on the Channel Nine dating show last year, urged him: Keep your chin up lad, loved you on the show.’

‘I know first hand how bulls**t that experiment is. Loved how you handled yourself on the show just wish I’d been able to keep my cool like you did.’

Another fan expressed concern for Jono’s wellbeing, saying, ‘This is a broken man and everyone just needs to stop with the drama and trolling.’

‘How sad that a poorly edited TV show has got so many people playing sides with loves that aren’t theirs.’

Another pointed out, ‘Don’t do sh**ty things Jono and you won’t get a sh**ty reaction,’ implying that Jono’s actions on the show have consequences.

In a silver lining among the mixed feedback, another expressed a hopeful note: ‘Why are people so full of hate. They were paired up with people that didn’t suit them. Then they met each other and clicked. Good luck to them.’
