Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shrugged off the ‘bleach blonde bad-built butch body’ insult her Democratic colleague Rep. Jasmine Crockett hurled with a 50th birthday bikini photo.
‘Many people go into their 50th birthday thinking it’s a bad thing, but I truly feel it’s wonderful and I’m so excited and grateful God let me live 50 years and do so many things,’ she wrote on X along with the photo.
Crockett, meanwhile, defended cashing in on the insult she spat at Greene during an Oversight hearing earlier this month. She said Republicans do so all the time and she was using the funds to elect Democrats.
‘When I set out to do the trademark, that is not personally done, it is done under the campaign,’ Crockett said on ABC’s ‘The View.’
‘It was because there was a demand. I’m a business major who also was a lawyer. So the two things came together.’
Crockett tore into the way Republicans had run the House and said she was working to make Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries the speaker of the House.
‘This is about making sure that we can raise the monies. It’s so that I can help save our democracy. My money goes to front-liners, people that are in fights to make sure that we can take the House,’ Crockett said.
‘We’ve seen that the House has been run like a circus. We need Jeffries as the Speaker of the House. And so, if they lose the House, I’m going to just go ahead and blame it on Marjorie.’
After the exchange, Crockett announced on X she would be launching a ‘Crockett Clapback Collection’ and posted a photo of a T-shirt she would sell.
She filed a trademark for ‘bleach blonde bad built butch body’ with the US Patent and Trade Office with plans listed to file a clothing line and a political consultancy under that name.
‘We’ve seen that the House has been run like a circus. We need [House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.)] as the Speaker of the House. And so, if they lose the House, I’m going to just go ahead and blame it on Marjorie.’
The original back-and-forth broke out at a frenzied Oversight Commitee hearing to advance a contempt resolution against Attorney General Merrick Garland.
‘I don’t think you know what we’re here for,’ Greene said at the hearing before turning her sights on Crocketts’ appearance. ‘I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., then erupted, demanding the chairman ‘take down’ Greene’s words and that she apologize. Greene agreed to have her words struck from the record but did not apologize.
During the hearing, Crockett hit back at Greene asking the committee chairman if personal attacks like ‘if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad-built, butch body’,’ would that be against the rules.
‘A what now?’ chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said.
Crockett later accused Greene of being ‘racist,’ arguing Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., wears hair extensions and false lashes and Greene has not attacked her for that.
