Margot Robbie’s surprising new live-action movie has been revealed following the phenomenal and record-breaking success of her Barbie movie.

The actress, 33, starred in the top-grossing film of 2023 as the famous Mattel doll, and is now set to take on another live-action project as she hopes to continue the success.

She will be producing a movie based on the long-running video game series The Sims, with few details about the exciting new project currently known.

Margot will be producing the movie through her LuckyChap Entertainment production company, which she established in 2014 alongside her husband Tom Ackerley.

It is set to be directed by Kate Herron, who has worked behind-the-scenes on hit TV shows including Loki and Sex Education, with a release date yet to be confirmed.

The hugely popular The Sims video game series began in 2000 and allows players to live in a ‘virtual simulation’ of life in which they can create their own lives.

From picking their character’s personality trails, job, skills and relationships to building homes, the computer game became hugely popular and was expanded with sequels and expansion packs.

There is no leading character in the Sims universe, but individually created ones by gameplayers, and can see the characters embark on any journey, from mundane day to day activities to adventures involving vampires and magic.

Margot is currently only listed as a producer for the movie, rather than also taking on the lead role like in the Barbie movie, although it is possible she may have a cameo in it.

Daily Mail has contacted Margot’s representatives for comment.

It is not Margot’s first venture into live-action movies after she impressed fans with her leading role in the smash hit Barbie movie last year, which she also produced.

The blockbuster smashed box office records and saw director Greta Gerwig become the first female director to achieve a $1billion record.

Margot has already produced 13 films through her production company, including last year’s critically acclaimed thriller Saltburn.

In January, it was revealed that Margot is planning on taking a step back from acting following Barbie’s global success.

The n actress laid bare her ambitions to work off-screen after years of building her acting portfolio while  fronting the Awards Line issue of Deadline.

Speaking to the publication, Margot said she wants to take a break from starring in movies as she thinks everyone is ‘sick’ of seeing her.

‘I also think everyone’s probably sick of the sight of me for now. I should probably disappear from screens for a while,’ she said.

‘Honestly, if I did another movie too soon, people would say, “Her again? We just did a whole summer with her. We’re over it.”‘

‘I don’t know what I’ll do next, but I hope it’s a little while away,’ she added.

She noted that as well as her leading Barbie role, she has also been busy working behind the scenes producing.

Elsewhere in the interview, Margot laid bare her ambitions to direct a movie of her own, after years of producing critically acclaimed content.
