A manhunt has been launched after a cyclist was dragged off his bike and assaulted in a horrifying Christmas Eve attack.
The 49-year-old sustained serious head and face injuries after he was struck while cycling down a residential street in Manchester at around 6.30pm last night.
Greater Manchester Police have said that the victim has undergone surgery for what is being described as ‘serious and life-threatening injuries’ and he remains in a serious condition in hospital this evening.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the terrifying incident took place as the man was cycling on Viscount Street in the Moss Side area of Manchester.
Police arrived at the scene after paramedics discovered the injured victim .
As of writing no arrest have been made and the force are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.
Detective Inspector Lee Newburn of GMP’s City of Manchester Criminal Investigation Department said; ‘This is a shocking attack that has left a victim with devastating injuries on Christmas Eve.
‘We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything to speak to us to help us build a full timeline of events leading up to this assault, we are also appealing to those residents who live near Viscount Street to come forward if they saw anything suspicious yesterday evening.
‘This could be eyewitness accounts, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage at the time of the incident or leading up to or after the assault.
