A Wyoming man who rescued a 14-year-old girl from a sex abuser was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for ‘kidnapping’ him, while the pedophile received a similar sentence of 10 to 14 years.

In April, Timothy J. Ott, 31, pleaded guilty to kidnapping Zackary Minard, 23, who was found in bed with a 14-year-old girl by her mother.

The woman contacted her boyfriend, Ott, who rushed to the house with a 35-year-old friend in tow.

Last month, Ott was ordered to serve nine to 10 years in prison. District Judge Michael McGrady further ruled that the 31-year-old must pay the abuser $1,065 in restitution.

The 31-year-old confronted the abuser and soon a violent fight broke out, during which the young girl vomited, according to Cowboy State Daily.

While the friend repeatedly kicked Minard, Ott took the then 22-year-old by the ankles and dragged him outside, Gillette News Record reported.

After letting the abuser get to his feet, they ordered him into the trunk of a red 2007 Chevy car, which he promptly did.

Minard claimed to authorities that Ott deliberately drove in an erratic manner, so that he would be thrown around against hard metal objects while in the trunk.

The abuser thought that he was being taken to some remote location in order to be killed.

Eventually, the car came to a stop and Ott punched Minard multiple times, breaking his nose.

The two men left the then 22-year-old out in the rural country, where the temperature was about 35 degrees.

Before driving away with his friend, Ott told Minard to walk back to town and consider what he had done.

The next day, the 31-year-old returned to the scene to look for the abuser, fearful that something might happen to him.

However, Ott learned that Minard had already been found and was now being treated at a hospital.

The ‘kidnapper’ spoke with the police, confessed to his crime, and expressed regret that things went ‘too far.’

Only a few days after his arrest, authorities found paraphernalia with trace amounts of meth in Ott’s possession.

The judge gave Ott a three-to-five-year prison sentence for the illicit drug, but is allowing him to serve it concurrently with his time for kidnapping.

In his interview with authorities, Minard admitted to having sex with the underage girl.

In addition to his prison sentence, the 23-year-old must pay $3,000 in fines, as well as $500 in restitution to the Wyoming Division of Victim Services.

The judge further ordered that he must register as a sex offender.

Around the time that he was sentenced, Minard wrote a letter in which he expressed remorse for his actions.

‘There is not a day that goes by where I wish I could take everything back,’ he wrote in the letter.

‘I wish that I could have not made the bad choices that day. I wish I could take the pain away from the family I have hurt.’
