A woman has been found dead at a unit in the eastern Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra.
Shortly before 12pm on Monday, the emergency services were called to an address in Astoria Circuit following a report the woman’s body was found.
‘The woman is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 60s,’ a police spokesperson told Daily Mail .
A 50-year-old man is assisting with inquiries.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
The police established a crime scene and started an investigation into the death.
Large numbers of police and forensic officers were seen at the unit on Monday afternoon.
Police officers scoured the surrounding area, including bins for any possible clues.
The forensic officers wore blue overalls and white face masks so as not to contaminate any evidence found at the scene.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
