A man was killed when he was struck by an object which flew off a passing caravan as two teens in the backseat watched on in horror.
The Canberra man, 49, was driving along Burley Griffin Way at Galong in NSW Hilltops region on Sunday night when an item from a caravan travelling in the opposite direction was dislodged.
The unknown object smashed through the front windscreen and struck the man in the head.
The man died before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
A woman, 48 and two girls, 16 and 13, travelling in the same vehicle weren’t injured but were taken to Canberra Hospital suffering from shock.
The man, 32, towing the caravan wasn’t injured.
He was transported to Harden Hospital for mandatory testing.
Crash Investigation Unit officers have spent time examining the crime scene
Police investigations into the incident continue.

Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram urged drivers to take care on the Burley Griffin Way this holiday season.
‘Any time during the year is busy but especially this time, the traffic volume gets increased,’ he told the ABC.
‘This accident is extremely sad.’
