A man in a wheelchair has been stabbed to death in a suspected London street fight today, after emergency services rushed to the scene to try and save him.

Met Police officers were called at 3.38pm today to reports of a fight in Rushmore Road, Clapton, with suggestions that a machete was used in the gruesome attack.

The officers – along with the ambulance service and an air ambulance – found a man in his 30s with a stab injury in the residential area.

A crime scene was put in place and police confirmed two men have been arrested, with enquiries ongoing.

Video posted on social media – claiming the man was stabbed with a ‘machete’ – shows the road blocked off with police tape and an air ambulance flying over the residential area.

A local butcher described the ‘disabled’ victim as a ‘good guy’ who has lived in the area for about nine years.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 15:38hrs on Wednesday, August 28, to reports of a fight in Rushmore Road, E5.

‘Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended and found a man, aged in his 30s, suffering a stab injury.

‘Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

‘His next of kin will be informed. Two males (no further details at this time) have been arrested. Enquiries remain ongoing.’
