A teenager was reportedly crushed while playing in old war tunnels near a popular Sydney beach.
The male victim, 13, suffered injuries to his legs and one of his arms when a large iron door fell on him while he was playing in the old war tunnels near Malabar in the city’s south east.
Malabar Battery was a coastal defence station built on the Malabar headland in 1943 during the Second World War.

It features a four-storey observation post and a series of bunkers and tunnels.
The site fell into disrepair after the war and now lies derelict and covered in graffiti.
‘A boy in his teens was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital with a leg injury,’ a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said.
NSW Police declined to comment.
