Johnny Van Zant, the legendary frontman of Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, has shared heartbreaking news about his daughter’s recent health scare.
Van Zant, 63, took to Facebook ahead of the weekend to announce that his youngest daughter, Taylor, has been diagnosed with a brain mass.
The shocking news came just days after the band was forced to cancel several shows, citing a ‘family emergency.’
‘First of all, I want to thank you all for saying prayers for my family,’ Van Zant said in the video. ‘I did not announce my daughter’s name because she is very private. In saying that, I think that a lot of you know it’s my youngest daughter Taylor.’
Van Zant explained that Taylor had suddenly begun experiencing numbness on the right side of her body.

The family then rushed her to the emergency room, where doctors discovered a mass on her brain, which had also caused some internal bleeding.
‘A couple of days ago, Taylor started feeling numbing on her right side,’ he said. ‘She went to the emergency room, they did a CAT scan, and they found the only way to say it is a mass on her brain, and some of it was bleeding. That was causing the numbing part.’
While doctors do not believe the mass is cancerous, Van Zant said that more tests are being conducted, and they’re not out of the woods yet.
‘In saying this, we have had her with a great neurology team and group of doctors, and they don’t think it’s (cancer),’ he continued.

‘So, that’s a good thing, but they are still doing a lot of testing. We are not out of the woods yet, but we are in a lot better position than we thought we were in in the beginning.’
But the troubling news didn’t end there.

‘He has a lovely family, young daughter, great family, and he has been an awesome driver for us. Good guy, and a really freak accident; if you guys can say prayers, prayers, prayers for him.
‘You know, the (Devil) tries to get you in every way whenever you start spreading his word, but we ain’t going to let him,’ he added. ‘We are going to fight him until the end. All he wants to do is cause us trouble and harm us.
‘So, think about that, I’m not going to let it happen. I’m going to fight it all the way with Jesus Christ.’
