Mike and Zara Tindall’s youngest child put on a very animated display as he joined his parents for the New Year’s Day racing at Cheltenham Racecourse.
The cheeky three-year-old was a bundle of energy during the family outing, looking adorable in a black zip-up coat, trousers and trendy white trainers.
Zara’s love of horse-riding has clearly rubbed off on him as photos from the annual event in Gloucestershire showed the toddler excitedly cheering in the stands whilst holding onto a piece of bread for a snack.
But little Lucas did seem put out by the rainy and windy weather and was visibly frustrated at the stormy conditions.
He pulled a face at the grey skies, looking horrified and upset by the overcast conditions.
In other shots, the playful child could be seen swinging around while holding onto handlebars and watching the races.
Meanwhile, his parents Mike and Zara appeared loved up as ever as they enjoyed a day out with their children.
Greeting the New Year, Princess Anne’s daughter and her husband cuddled up to one another as they brought Lucas, three, Lena, six, and Mia, 10, to the races.
Zara, 43, who is an Olympic equestrian herself, arrived at the historic racecourse holding the hand of her son Lucas, three.
Dressed in a navy pinstripe suit with a burgundy turtleneck jumper layered underneath it for warmth, Zara looked regal even as she braved the adverse weather conditions.
She and her husband Mike, 46, who donned a brown suit jacket paired with a matching burgundy tie, stopped to pose for the cameras.
In a sweet moment, the former rugby star lovingly planted a kiss on Zara’s cheek.
The experienced sportswoman swept her blonde hair out of her face in an elegant updo and held a crocodile print Loxley bag from luxury British brand Fairfax & Favor worth £345 by her side.
She completed her sophisticated look with a burgundy headband, chunky gold earrings and brown leather gloves.
Zara’s older brother Peter, 47, was also in attendance at the races today.
Despite being dressed for the dreary weather, he looked dapper in a long black woolen coat with his collar upturned and dark trousers.
It was his partner Harriet, 44, who stood out from the crowd in a bright yellow wide-brimmed hat contrasted with a houndstooth knee-length coat.
The NHS paediatric nurse sipped from her drink as she read the New Year’s Day racing programme.
It seems Zara’s passion for the sport is rubbing off on her kids, as the entire brood looked highly engaged in the action taking place on the racecourse.
With seven races scheduled throughout the afternoon, the royal revellers were fixated on the track.
Three-year-old Lucas was seen cheering on the horses with a bit of bread in his hand as a snack.
Mia looked lovely in a black dress decorated with white bows. She also wore a pair of subtle silver earrings as she watched the horses.
Meanwhile middle child Lena, who sported an adorable beige high-neck dress, looked less impressed and threw her hands up in despair at the results of one of the races.
It comes days after Zara joined the royals for the Christmas Day service at Sandringham last week alongside her husband and their children.
The family were also joined by Zara’s brother Peter as they were welcomed by fans of the royals.
Dressed in a plum-coloured long coat, Zara walked towards the service hand in hand with her daughter Lena, with her niece Isla Phillips on her other side.
The couple’s older daughter Mia and her father Mike followed behind Prince William and Kate Middleton and their children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis.
The families joined King Charles, 76, and 77-year-old Queen Camilla for the short walk from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church past the crowd of well-wishers.
William walked hand in hand with Charlotte, and Kate who wore a green coat and hat smiled at the crowds.
Also in the walking party was the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
While Catherine, Princess of Wales, often takes the spotlight for her fashion choices, Zara Tindall has become a stylish dark horse.
Zara, who recently attended Kate’s carol concert, ended her year with a bold fashion move in a velvet suit, having recently launched her very own line of clothing.
The mother-of-three looked effortlessly stylish in a Veronica Beard velvet trouser suit in a rich wine hue.
She accessorised with Kurt Geiger pumps and a contrasting metallic gold Strathberry Crescent bag last month.
Often named one of the most fashionable royals, Zara opened up about her style choices and hailed her mother, Princess Anne, for teaching her the importance of ‘good quality clothing’.
Zara has worked in collaboration with Musto and Fairfax & Favor to create a collection of jackets, which range in price from £350 to £450.
The collection, named Odyssey, includes ‘very versatile’ styles, including both longline and shorter styles to suit every outdoor activity this autumn and winter.
She said the jackets combine the strongest parts of two of her favourite brands.
Zara said: ‘Combining Musto’s technical prowess and Fairfax & Favor’s quintessentially British style has resulted in a collection of coats I’m looking forward to wearing this winter.’
She also told The Telegraph that her mother, the Princess Royal, has influenced what she values most when choosing her clothing.
She said: ‘Mum taught me the importance of having good quality clothing that keeps you warm and comfortable outdoors.
‘As a sportswoman who spends most of my time in nature, this is more important than ever to help me stay at my best.’
The jackets created by Zara include the longline Odyssey Waterproof Coat, which comes in dark navy or forest green, and includes a removable hood.
The coat retails for £395, but also comes in a shorter jacket form for £350.
There’s also the padded Pertex Primaloft coat – in both long and short styles – which retails for £450 and £380 respectively.
Zara said of the styles: ‘These jackets are the perfect choice for staying warm and dry, as the colder, wetter weather starts to set in.
‘I have worn Musto for years, and it’s the perfect kit for riding horses, walking the dogs, and being outside, all of which I love.’
