‘The number of viewers watching live has sat solidly above 1million all series which is meaty for a daily show at 9pm…’

It comes after Big Brother ratings slumped to their lowest ever viewership on launch night in November.

For the highly anticipated return of the UK’s first social experiment, only 825,000 people tuned into ITV to watch the live premiere.

The ratings represented less than half of last year’s simulcast launch.

But it was not all bad news, as 25 percent of those viewers were aged 16-34, in line with ITV2’s airing last year.

While it may be the lowest-ever opener in terms of numbers, it is on par with 2023 which was an overnight series average.

It’s a far cry from the 2.5 million viewers the first episode attracted, but that was also simulcast across ITV1.

The 2024 opener was exclusive to ITV2 and ITVX and was not broadcast across ITV1.

People watching on ITVX or on catch-up were not included in the viewership numbers, only those who watched live were considered for the count.
