Lorraine Kelly shared a gushing tribute to her mum Anne to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday on Instagram.

The TV presenter, 64, uploaded a stunning picture of her 82-year-old mother who held up a glass of wine to the camera.

Lorraine said her mum is so ‘brave’ and revealed Anne is still living each day to the fullest despite battling with a ‘tough illness’.

She penned: ‘Happy Mother’s Day to my brave lovely mum – coping with a tough illness and still able to (occasionally) say cheers! and always living each day to the full! #love #mothersday #brave #inspiration’

Anne was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in February 2023, a condition that stops the kidneys functioning properly which also saw her hospitalised.

Lorraine moved to London to be close to work, but her parents and her husband Steve live in her hometown of Glasgow.

Back in December 2020, Lorraine was surprised on the show with a moving message from her mum during the pandemic, moving the broadcaster to tears.

She told Dr Hilary Jones and fashion expert Mark Heyes: ‘I wish I could see them, it’s terrible isn’t it? I haven’t seen her for ages.

‘Everybody is the same though. Zoom calls galore today. We will see each other. It’s like we keep saying. We have to scale it down for this year but wow are we going to make up for it next year? My wee mum, that was so lovely.’

In October, Lorraine gushed about how youthful her mother looks during an interview with Woman & Home.

She said: ‘I’m lucky. My mum [Anne Kelly] looks incredible and I’ve inherited her skin and cheekbones.

‘I’ve got wee patches of grey but I’ve never done anything to my face. I’m too scared to do Botox. I’ve heard too many stories over the years where people have ended up looking like Klingons.’

She added: ‘After gaining weight in lockdown, I’d become very unhappy with my size. Like most of the nation, I had been comfort-eating, not doing as much exercise as normal and my husband has no conception of portion.’
