For years Lindsay Lohan was best known to most for a string of personal woes, whether it be her short-lived stints behind bars, drug arrests, or ill-fated stays in rehab.
But in a move that’s already been dubbed the Lohan-aissance, the actress has kickstarted her comeback in spectacular fashion, with a tactic that may come as a surprise to some – tapping into the cheesy Netflix rom-com market.
The Mean Girls star, 38, has cashed in with a two-picture deal with the streaming service, after previously starring in the 2022 effort Falling For Christmas, with one critic branding it her ‘best work in years.’
The film’s success led to Lindsay signing her new Netflix deal, beginning earlier this year with her first film Irish Wish, and continuing with another festive offering, Our Little Secret.
The film, which was released on Wednesday, sees her star opposite Ian Harding and Kristin Chenoweth, and follows two contentious exes who are forced to spend Christmas together after discovering their new significant others are siblings.
While her newest effort has only been available on Netflix for a matter of hours, and earned mixed reviews from critics, it has gone down a storm with die-hard fans.

Lindsay went from being America’s sweetheart as a Disney star to experiencing many turbulent years in the public eye – becoming a tabloid regular for her party girl ways.
Headlines about her on-screen prowess and never-before-seen talent soon turned to tabloid front pages filled with less-than-savory photos of Lindsay partying alongside her industry peers and stumbling out of night clubs, while rumors about substance abuse began to emerge.
Ultimately, the redhaired beauty would spend years battling addiction – leading to her own run-ins with the law, as well as numerous rehab visits – and her partying soon impacted her acting career.
She was thrown off movie sets, kicked out of roles, and forced to cancel appearances, casting doubt on whether her career would ever recover.
Throughout 2006 and 2007, Lindsay was often photographed enjoying wild and boozy nights out, with photographers catching her looking bleary eyed while leaving clubs in the early hours on many occasions.
Then, while filming the movie Georgia Rule in early 2007, reports emerged that the actress had been sent to the hospital for ‘overheating and dehydration,’ but rumors quickly started to spread that her partying had actually lead to the incident.
The actress spent years in and out of rehab and was plagued by legal troubles, but she is now sober and looking better than ever
After a string of personal troubles, Lindsay disappeared from the limelight to start a new life in Dubai with her husband, financier Bader Shammas
But she kickstarted her return to acting in 2022 with a role in Falling For Christmas, and after its success, signed a two-film deal with the streaming service
In January 2007, the actress attended a 30-day rehab program. While in treatment, Lindsay continued to film the movie I Know Who Killed Me – a bizarre and creepy psychological thriller about a pair of twins (both played by Lindsay) who didn’t know the other exists.
By March of that year, Lindsay was arrested for drinking and driving after she crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a curb in Beverly Hills, California.
She then checked herself into a treatment center, where she stayed for 45 days. However, two weeks after leaving the facility, she was arrested again for a DUI, as well as cocaine possession and driving with a suspended license.

Over the course of the next four years, Lindsay spent more than 250 days in rehab and was arrested 20 different times – including four times for breaking her probation. However, she spent less than two weeks in jail in total, and was put on house arrest for 35 days from all of her legal troubles.
After a string of critically-panned roles, she decided to pursue other endeavors instead. She opened a nightclub in Athens, Greece, in 2016, followed by a successful beach resort on the Greek island Mykonos.
Around that time, she also decided to give up her life in Hollywood and relocate to Dubai, which she called a ‘fresh start’ to Emirates Women in a 2018 interview.
‘Moving here was a fresh start,’ she said. ‘You hear more about real current events rather than celebrity gossip, which I really appreciate.’
The former child star added that her lifestyle in Dubai was quite the opposite of that in LA, and that she was thoroughly enjoying stepping away from the spotlight to live a ‘normal life.’
She also told W: ‘There’s a certain calmness that I find [in Dubai]. There’s no paparazzi, no cameras – that’s a big deal for me.’
Alongside her move to the Middle East, Lindsay also tied the knot with financier Bader Shammas, and they welcomed their first child together last year.
In 2022, Lindsay kickstarted her return to acting with her role in Falling For Christmas, and it was then revealed she’d signed a new deal with Netflix to star in two more films for the streaming service.
The first in Lindsay’s two-picture deal, Irish Wish, hit Netflix earlier this year, and despite mixed reviews, her performance was praised for ‘lighting up a scene’

While attending the premiere of Our Little Secret, Lindsay also stunned fans with her fresh-faced new transformation
‘We’re so happy with our collaboration with Lindsay to date, and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with her,’ Netflix’s Director of Independent Film Christina Rogers said.
‘We look forward to bringing more of her films to our members around the world.’
The first in Lindsay’s two-picture deal, Irish Wish, hit Netflix earlier this year, and saw her star opposite English actor Ed Speleers and Alexander Vlahos.
The film saw Lindsay star as Maddie, a book editor whose world crumbles when her secret crush gets engaged to her closest friend.
After reluctantly accepting the role of bridesmaid for the wedding in Ireland, Maddie soon realizes her heart’s true desire lies elsewhere.
While the film earned negative reviews from critics, and was described as ‘a scattering of rom-com cliches,’ Variety noted that Lindsay ‘hasn’t lost her ability to light up a scene.’
Lindsay has also filmed a sequel to Freaky Friday, called Freakier Friday, this summer with Jamie Lee Curtis who called the now-sober star ‘a revelation’.
While attending the premiere of Our Little Secret, Lindsay also stunned fans with her fresh-faced new transformation.
Taking to X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote about Lindsay on Monday night: ‘I’m obsessed with Lindsay Lohan’s glowup.
Another person agreed that the star was ‘glowing tonight.’
And someone else playfully added, ‘I need to drink whatever Lindsay Lohan is drinking,’ adding a heart eyes emoji.
There was also a spectator who remarked, ‘Ok but seriously who was the surgeon that did Lindsay Lohan’s face. She looks fantastic.’
Board-certified surgeon Dr. Jonathan Sykes weighed in on what cosmetic tweaks the actress might have made. He suggested that she may have treated ‘pigmentary and some textural issues’ in her skin to achieve her new look.
‘Her skin has no dyschromias, which are pigmented areas on the skin, round spots and so forth,’ he observed.
Dr. Sykes also said that she may have had some Botox, but stressed that it had been done in a subtle way and not ‘overdone.’
And he said that it’s ‘likely’ that Lohan had some form of rhinoplasty procedure done to get the ‘perfect’ nose: ‘Although her nose was not unattractive, the fact that it looks perfect in recent photos suggests that she’s had something done to it.’
