Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a procedure that treats infertility.
IUI boosts the chances of pregnancy by placing specially prepared sperm directly in the uterus, the organ in which a baby develops, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Another name for the procedure is artificial insemination.
The Bravo star is doing motherhood her own way because she does not want to wait for a partner after a nasty split with Randall.
She said ‘finding a partner and falling in love with someone’ does not have much to do with bringing a child into the world.
Kent added she is fine using a sperm donor. ‘It’s like you’re shopping for your partner but only to have a child, so there’s a lot that goes into it,’ she said.
At the time she also shared she had already found her donor: ‘We’ve got all our ducks in a row. The donor is secured, which I’m super excited about… the moment I found this donor, it just spoke to me. He felt like my baby daddy.’
She also shared the IUI process doesn’t scare her.
‘I would say the IUI process is very much having scientific sex,’ said Lala. ‘It’s the most wild thing in the world.’
The TV star added, ‘When my doctor was explaining it to me, I was like, Oh, this is just like I am in the bedroom with someone, but I don’t have to wait for the big O. It’s just one and done.
‘Like, let’s just get it done, get the most valuable thing that comes out of a man, which is his sperm, and I’ll be on my way.’
On why she’s doing IUI: ‘I will not gamble on me having my child.

‘And I just don’t think that finding a partner and falling in love with someone has anything to do with bringing a child into the world.’
Kent said she started thinking differently after Randall broke her heart.
‘When I had my life go in a very different direction, I knew I wanted more kids,’ said the star as she points to her 2021 split from Randall.
In 2022 she also shared the Scheananigans podcast about using a sperm donor: ‘I’m doing a sperm donor, period. I will not even attempt to try and do it a different way. I don’t want another person involved.’
Kent acknowledged that while a ‘partner could come into [her] life’ at any point, she’s ‘not taking the chance’ on co-parenting.
‘There’s such a high chance of it not working out, especially where we live,’ said Kent, who is based out of Los Angeles. ‘Like, I am so scarred from all of this s*** that has happened in my life.’
Lala and her former partner Randall began dating in 2015.
She then said: ‘It was such a strange thing that was happening because everyone would tell me, “You’re going to find somebody.”
‘And I got to thinking, “Why does my wanting more children need to involve another person?”‘ she explained.
On her advice to other women: ‘If you want children and are only waiting for “that person” to come into your life, let’s talk about a different route that we can take. It’s 2024! There are many ways to have a baby, and you don’t need a man to do it.’
Kent parted ways with her former fiancé in October of 2021, seven months after they welcomed their child, as she said she saw evidence he was unfaithful to her in the relationship.

Kent met the producer in 2015 and the pair went public with their romance in 2018, a year after he divorced his former wife, Ambyr Childers.
The former couple became engaged during a trip to Cabo San Lucas that took place that same year. The Bravo star went on to announce that she and her former fiancé had planned to tie the knot in April of 2020, although they ultimately postponed their wedding.
Kent went on to announce that she was pregnant in September of 2020, and she gave birth to her daughter Ocean, one, the following March.
However, the pair went on to split in October of 2021 after Emmett was seen in the company of two women during an outing in Nashville.
The reality television personality subsequently told the Los Angeles Times that her former fiancée had ‘tackled’ her after she confronted him about claims of infidelity.
A spokesperson for the producer denied the Bravo star’s claims, along with several other allegations that had been raised regarding their client’s behavior.
