California Gov. Gavin Newsom promised to deliver a ‘major address’ to discuss the ongoing raids in Los Angeles and his feud with President Donald Trump.
But for the first few minutes of the stream Tuesday night, Newsom’s stream experienced technical difficulties – and there was no audio.
Once it was restored, the Democrat governor reiterated his complaints against the president for deploying the National Guard to the city.
He had earlier experienced a temporary setback in his efforts to get the federal government to stand down, when a judge denied the governor’s emergency motion to get the National Guard out of the city.
But Trump has claimed the city would have been ‘completely obliterated’ if he had not deployed the Guard.
His administration will now have until midday Wednesday to respond to Newsom’s filing.
In the meantime, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the military will stay in Los Angeles for 60 days to combat violent ‘rioters, looters and thugs” during the immigration riots.
The chaos began on Friday when anti-ICE protesters seized on a handful of police raids across the city, taking to the streets to burn cars and march against what they say are unfair deportations.
Local business owners are outraged as destructive looters continue to target downtown stores as the protests rage on.
Trump is now deploying another 2,000 National Guard troops, along with 700 Marines, to LA today after Monday marked a fourth day of destructive protests.
