Five police officers have been taken to hospital as a precaution after a man died during an arrest.
The officers were visiting a home on Windridge Way in Kyneton, central Victoria, at 2.30pm on Tuesday as part of an investigation.
They arrested a 27-year-old man before he became unwell and unresponsive.
Officers attempted to perform CPR on the man, but he died at the scene.
The man is believed to have ingested a toxic substance.
Five police officers were taken to hospital as a precaution.
In a statement, police said detectives from the Homicide Squad will investigate the incident with oversight from Professional Standards Command.
This is standard practice when a person dies in police custody.
No further information has been released about the substance or the condition of the officers.
