Kyle Walker’s wife Annie Kilner was today fined £198 after police spotted her at the wheel of her £70,000 Mercedes with her mobile phone in her hand.
The WAG, 33, was stopped by police on June 8 last year, while Walker was preparing for England’s Euro campaign.
She was on her way to collect their four children when an officer pulled her over after noticing she had her mobile in her left hand with the other on the steering wheel, a court heard.
Kilner – represented by ‘Mr Loophole’ Nick Freeman’s law firm – was due to stand trial at Chester Magistrates Court today for failing to be in a position to have proper control of her vehicle.
But she did not attend and a guilty plea was entered on her behalf by her barrister, Nick Ross.
Magistrates fined her £198 as well as imposing three penalty points on her driving licence following a brief hearing.
The court heard Kilner already has six points on her licence, three from exceeding a 30mph limit and three from a traffic signal offence.
She faces a driving ban if she accumulates 12 points under ‘totting up rules’, and chair of the bench Jean Banford today told her barrister: ‘She will have to drive very carefully from now on.’
The court heard the officer who pulled Kilner over, PC David O’Connor, said in his statement that he ‘suspected that the lady was talking to someone on her mobile phone’.
But he went on to say ‘he could not see her lips moving and she did not have the phone up to her ear’, her Mr Ross said.
Kilner, of Prestbury, Cheshire was also ordered to pay £400 prosecution costs and a £79 victim surcharge, making a total payment of £677.
She will be able to pay in full within 28 days, Mr Ross said.
The court heard Kilner was running late picking up her children from a Padel session.
The former model was driving the EQV300 people carrier near the couple’s home in Prestbury, Cheshire.
She was pulled over by a police patrol at the junction of Bollington Lane and the A54 road to Congelton.
Kilner was originally charged with driving while using her mobile phone but that was withdrawn and substituted with driving a motor vehicle while not having proper control.
Prosecutor Michael O’Kane told that Kilner was spotted by PC O’Connor at the junction and the officer noticed that she was holding her mobile phone in her left hand with the other hand on the steering wheel.
Mr O’Kane said that Kilner told the officer that she was on her way to pick up her children from a Padel session and she was late.
Mr Ross, for Kilner, said: ‘This was a low speed incident, an unremarkable incident.
‘The defendant was on her way to collect her four children on the evening in question and she apologises for the offence.’
Mr Ross said that if she had been charged originally with the offence of not being in proper control, it would have been accepted and punished with a fixed penalty notice and three point endorsement.
Using a hand-held phone while driving carries a £200 fine and six penalty points.
The hearing took place hours before Walker – currently on loan from Manchester City at AC Milan – plays for England as they take on Latvia at Wembley in a World Cup qualifier.
He heads home regularly from Italy to see Kilner and their four children – Roman, 11, Riaan, seven, Reign, five, and nine-month-old baby Rezon.
But the football star – who also has two children with former mistress Lauryn Goodman – has landed himself in hot water of late after he was seen partying with two models in Milan.
As a result, she has reportedly set a new relationship rule and told Kyle to be ‘incredibly careful’ as she sticks by him once again.
A source told OK Magazine: ‘Annie has decided she’s going to give it another go but he needs to realise he has to be incredibly careful because even the most innocent things can come back to bite him.’
‘Annie isn’t a walkover, and she’s got a lot to think about,’ they added.
Kilner had flown out to Milan with their four sons after Kyle’s exchange to play for AC Milan.
They were pictured strolling through the Italian fashion capital on a shopping trip in what looked an apparent attempt at patching up their stormy marriage.
But, within hours of her heading back to Cheshire, Kyle was on the town with his Italian agent Dario Ristori and models Marijana and Dragana – who both run their own fashion labels.
At 2am on February 26, he was seen leaving the five-star hotel Casa Cipriani in Milan city centre with the two brunettes – who both bore a striking resemblance to Annie.
One onlooker said: ‘Kyle certainly looked like he was enjoying himself, he wasn’t ready for the night to finish after dinner, that’s for sure.’
While she was said to be upset about the encounter, she hinted that she had patched things up with Walker when she used her married name for the first time professionally on Saturday.
Taking to her Stories, Annie modelled a dazzling diamond bracelet with a caption which read: ‘Demure. Founded by Annie Walker & Sophie Haynes.’
According to The Sun, the move was a significant thawing in relations between the pair, despite Kyle’s most recent shenanigans with the couple said to be ‘working through their issues’.
A source told the publication: ‘Annie was far from happy and made her feelings clear. Kyle denies anything went on and says he was asked to give the girls a lift.
‘He’s clearly put himself in a difficult situation given his reputation. It’s the lack of thought for Annie and how it might look that has caused the upset.’
