Radio star Kyle Sandilands showed his softer side on Wednesday by reaching in to his own pocket to help a struggling Sydney family.

The charitable act occurred when Kyle and co-star Jackie O Henderson were playing their daily $10,000 Pop Quiz which awards listeners $100 for every question they answer correctly or $10,000 for a clean sweep.

A 23-year-old woman named Rhiannon phoned in to play, revealing that she was going to use the $10,000 to help buy her struggling parents a new car.

An emotional Rhiannon revealed that her father had just lost his job in the middle of building a new house.

‘Their car is on its way out,’ she said between tears.

‘Dad doesn’t have a job at the moment and mum doesn’t get many hours at work, so we’re struggling. We’re building a new house. So I just want to do something nice and help them.’

Unfortunately Rhiannon was left disappointed as she only answered two questions correctly, walking away with just $200.

However, after revealing that he can’t stand to hear women cry, Kyle went rogue, stopping the show to go against the competition’s rules.

He offered to take some of the stress off the struggling family by offering to personally buy them a car.

Kyle’s magnanimous act came after Jackie suggested they play double or nothing to allow Rhiannon another chance to win the big prize.

‘Turn the music off. Forget the double or nothing,’ Kyle announced.

‘If you answer the next question right, I myself will personally buy your parents a car. It’s no 458 Ferrari or any of this. It’s just a car. I will buy it personally for them.’

Jackie then asked Rhiannon the question: ‘Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck are characters created by which cartoon company?’

Rhiannon answered correctly with: ‘Disney’ and was truly elated when Kyle announced: ‘I will buy your father a car.’

Overcome with emotion, Rhiannon then brought her father Craig on the line who was equally bowled over with Kyle’s kind gesture.

‘I’m going to buy you guys a car. Just to ease the pain of the s**t that’s going on,’ Kyle announced.

Struggling to hold back emotion, Craig was grateful for Kyle’s largesse, while adding that there were people worse off that were more deserving.

‘No, you don’t have to do that,’ Craig said.

‘There’s a hell of a lot more people out there that are struggling more than what we are.’

‘I love people like you,’ Jackie chimed in before Craig fighting himself to hold back tears offered his heartfelt thanks to the radio hosts.

‘That’s so beautiful, there are some beautiful people in this world,’ she added.
