A Kentucky family had the chance to welcome a new kind of Christmas guest during this year’s holiday season.
Michele White and her family brought home a live Christmas tree from a farm and placed it in the middle of their house.
But four days later, the family discovered that a baby owl had already made their Christmas tree their home.
Lexington resident Michele White told WDKY-TV: ‘I was shocked. I was so stunned. I have three dogs. We use this room nonstop: watch TV; the kitchen’s right here; no indication.’

Bobby Hayes, who owns Magic Carpet Cleaning, was at their family home while they were out and first noticed the bird after plugging in a piece of equipment and seeing the tree start to sway.
‘The owl was literally sitting on a lower limb here. It crawled up into the tree further. It took me several minutes to even find it,’ Hayes said.
He quickly clicked pictures and sent them to White, who said she was glad he was there to deal with the animal.
Hayes said he safely released the owl in the family’s backyard.
‘Everybody´s going to be able to have a merry Christmas now,’ he said.
Later on, White exclaimed: ‘I would have left the house. The owl could’ve stayed without me. I wasn’t coming home.’
But while the owl was a pleasant surprise for the White family, not all Christmas tree owners have had great luck with unwanted house guests.

Later on, Brett confirmed that she did call Animal Control but it took them ‘hours’ to get to her home because she lives in a ‘small town.’
