Katie Price has revealed the ‘real reason’ behind her whopping tax bill since it was revealed she is being evicted from her Mucky Mansion.

The former Glamour model, 45, said she ‘didn’t even know’ she was declared bankrupt a second time – despite failing to pay over £750,000 to HMRC.

The mother-of-five opened up on her financial woes on the Stripping Off podcast  with Matt Haycox and disclosed the truth behind her bankruptcy.

Katie blamed ‘lawyers and divorces’ for the root cause of her bankruptcy, but insisted she ‘will pay’ what she owes ‘when she has it’.

She said: ‘Yeah, you should always pay your tax, this and that. But obviously I went through a breakdown so then I didn’t pay tax and that’s sort of where the bankruptcy thing has come from.

‘I will pay it but it just has to be when I’ve got it.’

She added: ‘I pay the mum and dad role, I’ve got bills to pay, I’ve got outgoings, I’ve got to live.

‘I feel good, because I’m in control whereas before, other people controlled it.’

Despite admitting she has been turning down work because she is getting too much, Katie told Matt she had no idea about her double bankruptcy.

She said: ‘Apparently I’m in another one, I didn’t even know about that.’

Katie has been open about her financial struggles and revealed on Monday that she is having a ‘yard sale’ as she begins clearing out her Mucky Mansion amid her bankruptcy woes.

She was informed by lawyers earlier this month that she would have to move out of the property in in Dial Post, West Sussex, by May 29, after two eviction notices appeared outside her home.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Katie shared a clip showing a huge pile of things in her living room that she was set to sell, which included a disassembled sofa, a futon and a mirror.

The video shared by Katie on Monday also showed stacks of boxes in the house.

And pictures from last week revealed huge piles of rubbish in the property’s garden, as the mansion looked the filthiest it had ever been.

Snaps have shown the star’s house littered with piles of rubbish and old furniture.

The grounds of the property are also overgrown, while Katie’s notorious pink Range Rover can be seen in the aerial shots as well as several other cars.

The debris on the property looks to be a mixture of bin bags, old clothes, a computer screen and even a family photo.

Katie’s Mucky Mansion has caused the star problems for years and last October the she struggled to rent the house out due to it being ‘mouldy’ and ‘haunted’.

Earlier this month it was revealed Katie was due to be evicted from the property.

The first eviction letter, dated April 24, revealed that ‘the eviction will take place on May 29th, 2024, at 10am’.

The eviction order from Horsham County Court, addressed to Katie and ‘any other occupiers’, instructs her ‘to arrange to leave the property with [her] belongings before this time and date’.

A spokesman for the star has denied that she will be kicked out at the end of the month.

In a statement to The Sun on Sunday night, they said: ‘Kate will not be evicted from her property on 29th May,’ but would not confirm or deny if Katie was being evicted.

The TV personality paid £1.35m for the property in Horsham, West Sussex in October 2014, which boasts some 12.25 acres of land, a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables and paddocks.

But, the home subsequently fell into disrepair, leading to her 2022 Channel 4 show, Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion, which saw Katie attempt to renovate the 19-room property.

In 2022, her ex-fiancé Carl Woods had been using the garden as a vehicle forecourt for his used car sales business prior to the latest update on the home.

Despite the legal notices, Katie insists she isn’t being evicted as she told listeners on the latest episode of her The Katie Price Show podcast: ‘My house isn’t being repossessed.

‘I’m not being evicted and I’m not moving into a caravan, although if I had to live in a caravan, you know what the travellers have, I would love that.

‘I’ll also have another announcement to make on the 28th, bring it on sunshine.’

Katie recently claimed that she has been signed off from appearing in court for her mental health, after receiving backlash for missing her last bankruptcy hearing in April to go on holiday to Cyprus with Married At First Sight UK star JJ.

She had been due to give evidence about her finances at the High Court, but at the start of the hearing, lawyers said that she had told them at the last minute she couldn’t attend due to health issues. A judge described this excuse as ‘scanty’.

Katie then jetted off on holiday to Ayia Napa with her MAFS star boyfriend, facing public backlash after being spotted sunbathing together by the pool.

Taking to her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Katie hit back and claimed she had been signed off from court because she was ‘mentally not strong enough’.

She said: ‘Everyone is like ‘oh she’s missed bankruptcy and she’s gone on holiday!’ No, let me address it…

‘The court knew that I wasn’t going to my bankruptcy, because mentally – my consultant at The Priory – I’ve been signed off for any kind of activity for court.

She went on: ‘I am taking my bankruptcy so serious, like I do everything else. It’s a very serious situation I’m in and it does look like ‘oh she’s just gone on holiday’…

‘No, my head at the moment needs a break. I had four days in my diary where I was able to go away. When I say I’m not mentally able and stable to stand in court at the moment because I have a lot of things going on behind the scenes I’m dealing with…

‘I’m mentally not strong enough at the moment to stand in court, be cross examined in front of the media and public.’

The court heard that Katie’s personal assistant had sent a statement from a consultant psychiatrist saying she had anxiety and depression , as well as other issues affecting her mental health.

Barristers for the trustees of Katie’s first bankruptcy asked the judge to order her attendance at a future hearing and said she should be ‘on notice’ that she could be arrested if she did not attend.

Katie’s Financial Woes

2019 – Katie was declared bankrupt with debts of £3.2m from her failed company Jordan Trading Ltd, that was set up to oversee her perfume and cosmetics line.

She set up the company in 2003 but in 2017 an application was put in to wind up the company as she tried to sort out her finances.

When she was declared bankrupt she vowed to pay back £12,000 a month to creditors of the firm through an individual voluntary arrangement.

The bankruptcy meant Katie, once worth a reported £45million, faced losing her £2million 11-bedroom mansion.

She took out a second mortgage on the property in 2015, but faced monthly payments of £12,300.

2022 – The former model had been due to attend the Royal Court of Justice to explain to a judge why she has failed to repay millions owed to creditors.

However, the hearing was adjourned at the last minute with her solicitors giving no reason for Katie’s no show before the court.

March 2024 – She was again declared bankrupt over an unpaid tax bill of £761,994.05. The demand for payment was made by HMRC in October 2023.

A court was told the bill ‘derives from self-assessments’ for 2020-2021 and 2021-22 and includes income VAT, tax, surcharges and interest.

Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Sebastian Prentis told the hearing at London’s Rolls Building: ‘There has been no response from the debtor. The papers are in order.

‘There is a substantial debt due from Ms Price to HMRC and therefore I will make a bankruptcy order.’

May 2024 – Katie is evicted from her home after being served with a notice and given weeks to leave. She is told bailiffs will arrive at 10am on 29 May to ensure she and any other occupants have vacated the property.
