Katherine Ryan has revealed the real reason why she gained weight in her neck during her pregnancy, which left fans convinced she’d ‘had too much filler’.

The 41-year-old comedian spilled the beans on what was really going on at the time during an appearance on Amanda Wakeley’s Style DNA podcast on Wednesday.

She told host Amanda:  ‘When I got pregnant with Fred and I had to take steroids so I gained loads of weight, but all in my neck strangely, because I took steroids and it just makes you gain weight in a strange way.

‘It was so weird and I looked so different. I had the audacity to continue to go out in public and film and to do stand up.

‘Loads of people on social media were like “Oh, she’s done too much filler” or “sh’s really ruined her face” – kind of the way people speak about, I mean I don’t think I’m out of turn saying Simon Cowell sometimes.’

Katherine fired: ‘Or even David Beckham now, or Zac Efron. People are starting to talk about men and filler, and I think who knows who’s done what?

‘Sometimes you just gain weight or you age and it looks like it. They’ll take a photo of you from twenty years ago and go “Oh, look what she’s done” – I’ll tell you what I’ve done is I’ve lived a hard life for the last twenty years and raised three children, I look different.

‘But I wasn’t doing anything at that time and obviously Nina [her cosmetic surgeon] is such a professional, I couldn’t do anything when I was pregnant or breastfeeding.’

Reflecting on the work she has done now, the comedian admitted that she still has some Botox but wouldn’t be able to ‘hold filler up’ now.

She explained: ‘And now on the other side of 40 with my anatomy, if I had a strong Kylie Jenner jawline it might be different but I don’t, and I think fillers, I don’t think I can hold them up – for my anatomy.

‘So now I’m really interested in a little bit of Botox here and there, not too much with babies, because babies need you to move your face.’

Amanda jumped in with: ‘But also, doesn’t your audience need you to move your face?’

‘No, they like the Botox I think,’ joked Katherine, ‘I’m robbing them of an experience cause now I can’t really do the jokes about Botox’.

Katherine Ryan shares the cutting message she sent after revealing there was 'dangerous male comic'

It comes just after Katherine revealed she never exercised due to the ‘threat of male violence’.

The comic  told how she hadn’t worked out in four decades – while hitting out at sexual predators and taking swipes at celebrity Ozempic users and the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sexual assault case.

Speaking at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards in London, she said: ‘I, myself, haven’t exercised once in over 40 years, due to the threat of male violence.’

The comedian also referred to rumours Christina Aguilera is on celebrity-favourite weight loss drug Ozempic after images of the pop singer looking slimmer emerged.

She added about her aversion to working out: ‘Also, I don’t want to. Can’t I just be a feminist who steals medication from Type 2 diabetics to transform myself into Christina Aguilera?’

Referring to the jailing of Combs, 54, in New York as he awaits trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges under a federal indictment, the Canadian comic went on: ‘In a single year in the UK, 800,000 women have been victims of sexual assault.

‘Surely P Diddy doesn’t have that kind of reach on the Internet?’

Katherine also shared the cutting message she sent to former male colleagues who got in touch after she revealed there was a ‘dangerous male comic’ on the circuit.

The comedian claimed last year that there is a ‘dangerous comic’ working in British showbusiness.

During her speech, Katherine revealed that a host of men she had worked with previously got in touch after her admission – all seeking ‘proof messages’ that she wasn’t talking about them.

‘So I had to copy and paste like a hundred times “Do you really think you should be texting me after everything that happened between us”,’ Katherine said as she revealed how she replied, sparking huge laughs from the female crowd.

Katherine said last year that she ‘wrestled’ with the decision about whether to work with ‘someone who I believe to be a perpetrator of sexual assault’ or turn down jobs.

Referencing said male comic in her speech at the awards, Katherine began: ‘After some soul-searching I though “Why should I stay home? He’s be there in his unnecessarily tight jeans, he’ll be there wearing beanie indoors or w***ing off a Tibetan monk for views, or whatever he gets up to.”

The Canadian-born comic told host Lauren Laverne in an episode of Desert Island Discs last year that although she believed the man ‘is or was dangerous’, she was willing to appear on a show with him. The episode came out as Russell Brand was at the centre of allegations of rape and sexual assault, which he denied, but was recorded prior.

Katherine revealed that her ‘compromise’ was to go on the programme with the unnamed comic but ‘let him know under no uncertain terms what I think of him.’

She added that she didn’t notice ‘much of a reaction’ from the comedian in question, but that other comics who were aware of the person’s reputation ‘really liked what I said’.

Katherine has been outspoken on the issue and is alleged to have challenged Russell while they were co-hosting TV comedy show Roast Battle in 2018, making comments about him on camera which were later cut from the broadcast.

Roast Battle consisted of comedians cracking jokes at each other’s expense. The first season included Russell, Katherine, and Jimmy Carr. Jonathan Ross replaced Russell for the second season.

During filming of the show – created by Fulwell 73 – Katherine reportedly fired allegations at Russell. Her comments did not make the aired show, according to Deadline.

Katherine’s confrontations allegedly revealed how comedians in the industry were openly talking about Russell’s sexual and predatory behaviour.

Russell was allegedly ‘absolutely furious’ after being targeted by Katherine on the show, a source told the paper.

Two other sources claimed he demanded that producers protect him from being roasted about these serious allegations.

Industry insiders have now revealed that they felt it was best Russell step down as a judge on the programme, and that ‘in the end, it came down to the fact that it seemed like Russell didn’t have a good sense of humour’.
