Kate Lawler has spoken honestly about the tough times in her marriage to husband Martin, admitting that couples counselling has saved their relationship.
The Big Brother winner turned DJ married podcast company owner Martin Bojtos in June 2022, after welcoming their daughter Noa the year before.
But just six months before they tied the knot Martin asked Kate to go to couples therapy as they struggled to communicate amid her battle with post-natal depression.
‘Martin was the one to suggest it, around a year after I had Noa,’ Kate told New Magazine. ‘I wasn’t in the best place and it was having a huge impact on our relationship.’

This week Kate joked that her marriage was on the rocks as the family continue their road trip holiday across Europe
‘Plus we were getting married six months later and Martin just wanted to start our marriage on the right foot, which was totally the right thing.’
Kate admitted though that she ‘panicked’ when her partner made the suggestion, confessing: ‘I thought he wanted to break up with me. It was the toughest part of our relationship.’
‘Having a child is the hardest thing you will ever do, but I also believe keeping your marriage alive after you have had a child is a huge challenge.’
The star called the therapy ‘invaluable’ and said the couple still have sessions every few months.
In the months before they married in 2022 Kate revealed how they were in the ‘worst possible place for a couple’ as she detailed their relationship ahead of the wedding.
She admitted that she ‘wasn’t prepared for the seismic shift’ in their relationship following the birth of their daughter Noa.
The 2021 she had her first child Noa after insisting for a long time she never wanted to be a mum, while her partner of nine years Martin, known affectionately as Boj, was ‘desperate’ for kids.
Speaking to Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast, Kate explained: ‘Since we became parents our relationship has changed so much. I want to say for the better, but sadly we both know, and we’re acutely aware of this, that we haven’t prioritized our relationship at all and we know that we need to take steps to improve it.

‘We’re getting married in two months and we’ve actually had like the hardest year as a couple so far.
‘But we know it’s because we became parents and your life changes monumentally when you become parents.’
She continued: ‘I wasn’t prepared for the seismic shift in our relationship. I thought it would change my life, me personally, but I didn’t think about how much it would affect us as a couple even though I had friends giving me advice saying “Look you’re both going to say things you don’t mean, you’re both going to be more tired than you’ve ever been before”.
‘We went out for a curry the other night because I pointed out that since Noa was born a year ago we’ve only been out on our own on a date twice. It’s not good enough.’
This week Kate joked that her marriage was on the rocks as she, Martin and Noa, alongside their two dogs Baxter and Shirley, continue their summer roadtrip around Europe.

Sharing a video update on Instagram, the star confessed: ‘I think this road trip is gonna end in divorce.’
Explaining how a four hour drive to their next stop took ten hours on winding roads in the dark, Kate admitted snapping at Martin over his driving.
‘We’ve stopped at services, he’s been on the loo for ages. He’s googling the UK’s best divorce lawyer,’ she joked.
‘We’ve still got 600 miles together, that’s if he doesn’t walk into the sea tomorrow, never to return. Anything to get away from me.’
