Her new movie, Saturday Night, is a biographical comedy drama thriller film about the first broadcast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 1975.
The synopsis reads: ‘On October 11th, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever.
‘This is the true story of what happened that night behind the scenes in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of SNL.
‘The chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, as we countdown the minutes in real time to the infamous words, Live From New York, it’s Saturday Night.’
The movie — which is directed by Jason Reitman — is a fictionalized recount and is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the debut of Saturday Night Live.
In the upcoming movie about the origins of the famed sketchy comedy show, Gerber portrays the late actress Jacqueline Carlin.
Gabriel LaBelle plays Lorne Michaels, Rachel Sennot plays writer Rosie Shuster, Cory Michael Smith plays Chevy Chase, Ella Hunt plays Golda Radner and Dylan O’Brien plays Dan Aykroyd.
