A South Korean pop star has shocked fans after appearing almost unrecognisable in recent selfies shared to social media.
Park Bom, 39, who shot to fame in the K-pop girl group 2NE1 in 2009, showcased her distorted features in a series of new images that led her Instagram followers to question whether or not she’d had plastic surgery, or is simply using too many filters.
In the photos, the songstress appears to have much larger eyes than before, along with a fuller pout.
‘Can’t even recognize you anymore, too much filter or too much surgery?’ quizzed one fan.
‘I really love 2NE1 but Bom’s face really changed,’ wrote another. ‘Her face pics look scary something, but then again, it’s her life. Whatever makes her happy.’

Another wrote, ‘Girl, you are already naturally beautiful, don’t put these stupid filters on your face, love you.’
Despite speculation that she may have tweaked her looks over the years, Bom has denied having plastic surgery multiple times.
The star has chalked the changes in her appearance down to weight gain, which is caused by lymphadenitis – a condition which can cause her face to swell.
She’s also said that it’s hard for her to maintain a diet due to suffering from ADD (attention deficit disorder).

In 2020, her record label denied speculation that she’d had surgery after she looked noticeably different during a public appearance.
‘Some people say she got plastic surgery, but that’s not the case,’ she they said.
The label also said that she was suffering from stress which had caused weight gain.
‘[She] has had a hard time for a while due to stress,’ they said. ‘So, we assured her to just be comfortable until her next album comes out. This has led to a slight weight gain which affected her facial feature as well.’

She later became the spokesperson for the Korean weight loss clinic Juvis, and shed 11kg on the program.
