Justin Trudeau’s ex-wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau bid adieu to her husband’s time in office in an eyebrow-raising post that barely mentions anything about him.

Trudeau, 53, resigned as Prime Minister of Canada in January after he faced weeks of pressure from party colleagues amid a bitter rift over how to handle relations with Donald Trump.

Although Trudeau and his ex-wife split in 2023, the glamorous former TV host reflected on her experience with the PM by sharing three photos from his farewell speech on Instagram on Monday.

Gregoire, 49, posted one pictured of their 16-year-old daughter Ella-Grace, another of a teary eyed Trudeau and a third of new Prime Minister Mark Carney and his wife Diana.

She added a lengthy caption about herself, her kids, the Liberal party and its new leader – without mentioning much about her ex-husband’s accomplishments.

‘It’s been quite the journey, hasn’t it?’ Gregoire said. ‘Maybe one day I’ll find the words to describe the depth of the experience I had as a simple human, a woman, a non-official First Lady and as mom raising three kids whose loving father Justin was in full service to his country.’

‘When a chapter ends, a new one begins. I’m so proud of the hard work the Liberal team has accomplished in all corners of our country and I salute the sacrifices you’ve made in your own lives. I know first-hand what they entail.’

Gregoire doted on her daughter, who introduced Trudeau at the Liberal leadership announcement on Sunday.

‘Ella-Grace, you spoke with a solid and grounded presence while introducing your dad. Maman can’t be any more proud of your fierce mind and tender heart,’ she said.

She then went on to congratulate Carney and thanked the Canadian people for their support.

‘Huge congratulations to Mark Carney who will continue to shine the light on our truths and the path ahead,’ said Gregoire.

‘The work is far from over and sunny ways persist. To all my Canadian sisters and brothers (k, I’m weeping now): you offered my family and I so much love and support. Just know…I loved you first! Forever in service to all.’

Trudeau and Gregoire announced their split in matching Instagram posts shared in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

The pair had been married since 2005 and share three children -17-year-old Xavier, 16-year-old Ella-Grace and 11-year-old Hádrien.

Gregoire has found love again with Ottawa pediatric surgeon Dr. Marcos Bettolli. The two were seen leaving a ritzy restaurant together just six months after her split from Trudeau.

While Trudeau’s career imploded in January, Gregoire was tearing up the slopes in Red Mountain Resort.

She posted an Instagram reel showing her frolicking in the snow with their kids in the picturesque Rossland, west Canada mountains.

‘Born to ski!’ Gregoire said in a caption overlaying the dreamy video. ‘Red Mountain slopes, powder and people; you rock! Thank you for an epic time! SHRED RED.’

Gregoire also wrote a lengthy caption detailing how she started skiing as a four-year-old when her father would tie plastic skis to her winter boots in Quebec.

‘I would fall flat on my face and get back up with him laughing so hard and giving me the taste of self-deprecation and perseverance! I’ve never stopped since,’ she wrote.

‘The mountains, the sky, the wind (and yes the cold!!!) are my buddies and path to freedom. I feel liberated and strong when I’m ripping slopes whether in deep steep powder or at 80 km/h downhill!

‘And now the ultimate dream is that my kids can follow us anywhere! We can learn to test our bodies and minds early in Nature…no matter where that is. Get out for some fresh air…it’s medicine for the mind!’
