Lynne McGranger has come under fire from comedian Julia Morris after the Home and Away star’s controversial comment about Robert Irwin’s Gold Logie nomination.
The 71-year-old veteran actress took a dig at Robert after he was nominated and commented on his ‘lack’ of ‘TV experience’.
Robert is up against TV veterans Julia, Larry Emdur, Sonia Kruger, Asher Keddie, Andy Lee and Tony Armstrong, with Lynne sharing her surprise the budding star was also in the running.
‘I’m sorry but ol’mate Irwin has been on telly for a bloody minute!! No disrespect intended,’ she wrote on Instagram as she endorsed her good friend Larry.
Julia has now leapt to the defense of her 20-year-old I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! co-host and branded the comment inappropriate.
She said it was fine for Lynne to spruik for votes in favour of her Seven stablemate – but not at the expense of a new star like Robert.
‘I understand that people aren’t exposed to people from other networks very often.’ Julia said.
‘So I think that Lynne’s love for Larry – everyone looks at Larry and they’re like, ”Larry deserves it, he’s been around forever”.’

She continued: ‘Well, my answer to that is, everybody deserves it on that list.
‘So I totally get the sentiment of Lynne where you want to protect and fiercely fight for the person that you adore, but it’s not appropriate to call out somebody else at someone else’s expense. And Lynne knows better than that.
‘I just think Lynne knows better than that. Lynne is a fantastic woman and she’s been around the industry for a long time, she’s an incredibly talented actress, and I think her passion for wanting Larry to take it is where that comes from.’

Lynne’s remarks were shared by her friend Larry, 59, who took to Instagram to post an amusing exchange he had with his friend after his nomination.
He shared a screenshot of a text message where his friend congratulated him on his nomination, before quipping that he’d be ‘voting for Robert Irwin’.
Larry joked in a caption: ‘I’m a lucky guy to have such supportive friends in this brutal Logies battle,’ prompting Lynne’s comment in support of his battle for the Logie.
