Democrat Senator John Fetterman has made a stunning claim about his party’s messaging on Donald Trump, as he defends the former president’s voters and dismissing claims he’s a ‘fascist.’
The Pennsylvania Senator revealed on ABC’s ‘This Week’ that he is well acquainted with many Trump voters in his state, and their motivations for supporting the GOP candidate are not as sinister as they are being made to seem.
‘I never believed it was about fascism… it’s not a word I would use,’ Fetterman declared on the Sunday morning show, speaking on Vice President Kamala Harris’s repeated attacks on the former president.
‘A lot of Democrats, especially in my state that I know and I happen to love people that voted for Trump and they are not fascists,’ he continued.
The progressive democrat suggested Trump’s success came from convincing voters he would ‘protect and project my version of the American way of life.’
‘I think people are going to decide who is the candidate that’s going to protect and project my version of the American way of life. And that’s what happened,’ he said.
The Senator even praised Trump’s political resilience, particularly after the January 6th assassination attempt.
‘After you survived an assassination, you literally were shot in the head… you had the presence of mind to respond – fight fight fight.’
‘That’s a political talent that’s undeniable,’ he said.
This comes a month after Sen. Fetterman faced backlash after cursing out thousands of voters in his home state after Republican Dave McCormick was announced as the winner of the Keystone State’s razor-thin Senate race by the Associated Press.
McCormick, the former CEO of Bridgewater Associates – one of the world’s largest hedge funds – stunningly flipped the seat held by Casey for three terms to red.
Posting on X about that Senate race, the Democrat Fetterman demanded that voters have patience as ballots are still being tallied. Then he viciously tore into Green Party voters.
‘Pennsylvania is going to count every last vote,’ he posted. ‘That’s not controversial- that’s the law.’
‘Also, Green dip****s’ votes helping elect the GOP,’ Fetterman’s post continued, featuring a picture of the party’s candidate.
