Former US president Jimmy Carter’s state funeral will take place in Washington today before is he laid to rest in Georgia.
President Biden will deliver a eulogy the National Cathedral with Donald Trump and wife Melania set to be in attendance alongside Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
Carter, the 39th president, passed away at his home in Plains on December 29 at the age of 100 following a decorated life inside and outside of politics.
For the national day of mourning, the Post Office and federal agencies will be shut as dignitaries gather in the capital to pay their respects.
