Jerry Seinfeld bluntly told an Anti-Israeli activist ‘I don’t care about Palestine’ during an awkward exchange after what initially appeared to be an innocent selfie request.
The comedy legend gave the cutting response after the activist attempted to elicit a political statement from him during the unexpected encounter.
Social media personality Subway DJ approached the 70-year-old comedian at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, where Saturday Night Live was hosting a 50th-anniversary celebration.
Seinfeld was more than willing to oblige when Subway DJ asked, ‘Jerry, can I get a selfie?’
‘Sure!’, Seinfeld said as he leaned in to pose for what he believed was going to be a typical fan photo.
But instead of capturing a still image, the activist was secretly recording a video.
As the camera rolled, the activist flashed a peace sign and abruptly declared, ‘Free Palestine.’
Seinfeld’s expression said it all, shifting from surprise to discomfort as he quietly processed the political bait.

When asked to repeat the phrase he shook his head delivering a blunt response, ‘I don’t care about Palestine,’ before walking away, shutting down the encounter.
Once the clip surfaced online, the reaction was swift and heated.
Many social media users voiced their outrage, calling Seinfeld’s dismissive remark disappointing and insensitive.
‘We don’t care about Seinfeld or anyone who supports genocide,’ wrote one user.
‘What kind of artist says something like that? Empathy, humanization and equal human rights should be in the root of what they do as profession,’ wrote a second.
‘Jerry wishes he was 1% as funny as you and yet he has a career in Hollywood simply for being able to say this crap and get away with it. Sad world,’ chimed in another.
‘We don’t care about Jerry!’ wrote another in response.
Others were far from impressed with the stunt. ‘The guy gives u a selfie and u pull some dumb move like that come on man.’

‘Don’t go asking him for a selfie just to say some dumb s***, have some respect for him,’ added another.
Seinfeld’s remark was not particularly surprising. The comedian has been an outspoken supporter of Israel, particularly since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023.
He made a solidarity visit to Israel at the end of 2023. He also met with families of hostages taken by Hamas and has said he will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.
Shortly after the conflict escalated, Seinfeld took to Instagram to voice his unwavering support for the Jewish state.
‘I lived and worked on a Kibbutz in Israel when I was 16, and I have loved our Jewish homeland ever since. My heart is breaking from these attacks and atrocities. But we are also a very strong people in our hearts and minds. We believe in justice, freedom, and equality. We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.’
