Jean Smart made a public plea for TV networks and streaming giants to reconsider airing awards shows amid the devastation from LA’s raging wildfires.
‘With all due respect, during Hollywood’s season of celebration, I hope any of the networks televising the upcoming awards will seriously consider not televising them,’ the 73-year-old Hacks star – who boasts 159K Instagram followers – wrote Wednesday night.
‘And [donate] the revenue they would have garnered to victims of the fires and the firefighters.’
The City of Angels has been hit with severe Santa Ana winds exceeding 100mph in some areas – which resulted in five raging wildfires that have killed five, destroyed over 2K structures, forced 100K residents to evacuate.
Several celebrities have lost their homes in the devastation including James Woods, Anna Faris, Cary Elwes, Paris Hilton, Diane Warren, Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Eugene Levy, Miles Teller, Billy Crystal, and Adam Brody.
California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency and FEMA approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to provide critical resources for fire suppression efforts.

Jean is nominated for best actress in a comedy series at the 30th Critics’ Choice Awards, which just announced they were moving the Santa Monica-based ceremony from this Sunday to January 26 on E!/Peacock.
The SAG Awards canceled their in-person nominations announcement event scheduled for Wednesday, but Smart is still set to compete for best actress in a comedy series at the LA-based ceremony streaming February 23 on Netflix.
And while the upcoming AFI Awards luncheon and BAFTA Tea Party have been canceled, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will still announce the Oscar nominations on January 17.
