Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a House Democrat from Texas, drew criticism after she nicknamed wheelchair-bound Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ‘Governor Hot Wheels.’
Crockett made the comment during a speech at a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles.
‘Ya’ll know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, c’mon now, and the only thing hot about him is that he’s a hot ass mess, honey,’ she told the audience as they cheered and laughed.
Abbott was tragically paralyzed after an oak tree fell on him while he was jogging at the age of 26 in 1984, but he continued to have a profound political career.
‘I am now going off script just so y’all know, this is where things get a little off the rails,’ Crocket said, before continuing her speech.
‘This woman is trash,’ commented Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk on X.
‘It’s official: Jasmine Crock-o-sht is the dumbest member of Congress. Even beating out AOC. That’s a hell of an accomplishment,’ Nick Sorter wrote on social media.
‘She does know the TX Governor is paralyzed… right? Is she making fun of a paralyzed person? This is horrible,’ Matt Van Swol wrote.
‘She’s openly mocking a governor who uses a wheelchair. Sickening,’ wrote Kristen Mag on X.
‘Jasmine Crockett is as low-class as they come,’ wrote X user Paul Szypula.
‘Disgusting. The statement, the phrasing, the awful faked accent. Just revolting,’ wrote Dianna Deeley.
‘These people are so gross and hypocritical,’ wrote John Taric on X.
Crockett continued her speech, mocking her Republican colleague Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Nancy Mace of South Carolina for mistakenly confronting a woman in the bathroom who they thought was transgender lawmaker Rep. Sarah McBride.
‘Anyway, they not even good at being, like, bathroom police, that’s the point of the story, like, you can’t even do that right, go sit down,’ she said as the audience cheered and laughed. ‘You campaigned on being bathroom police and f***ed that up.’
