Jacqui Lambie has revealed she’s backing Kamala Harris to become the next president of the United States.
Vice President Harris, 59, became the Democrats’ nominee earlier this week after taking on the candidacy from 81-year-old President Joe Biden, who lost the support of his party after a series of gaffes.
She will now take on former president Donald Trump in November’s election.
Senator Lambie was clear on who she would be backing on polling day if she was able to cast a vote.
‘I would certainly be voting for her [Harris]. That’s for sure,’ she said on The Project on Friday.
‘But I wish her the best of luck, and it would be great – I think it’s a great thing for America not just to get a woman up, but also a black woman. I think that’s wonderful.
‘We’ve had Obama up there, and I think it would be really good for America. Let her go! Get some woman power up there, girlfriend!’
Ms Lambie added that the Democrats were right to bring the Vice President in to replace Biden as the party’s candidate.
‘I don’t know what other choice you have,’ she said. ‘You have to bring your deputy up.
‘She’s certainly, um – how can I say this politely? She’s got her wits about her. And she can do more of a couple of sentences at once. So that’s got to be a bonus.’
Vice President Harris and Mr Trump will go head-to-head in a televised debate on September 10.
