News of Ozzy’s death earlier this summer sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans in the music world and showbiz industry alike.
The star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, passed away at the age of 76 on July 22 surrounded by his family.
He was buried a week later on July 30.
On Wednesday Jack revealed his emotional tribute to his late father Ozzy that he shared at his funeral, after the rocker’s tragic death in July.
Returning to his podcast for first time since his dad’s death, Jack revealed that he recited a heart-wrenching quote from actor Keanu Reeves during Ozzy’s funeral.
He also shared that while he was in Los Angeles when he learned about his father’s passing, he was able to spend a week with his family in the UK after Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, as he had cancelled his holiday after his children fell ill.
Fighting back tears during the 15-minute clip, Jack revealed: ‘There’s this quote, I actually quoted this, and of all people that said it, it’s always stuck with me.
‘I shared this at my father’s funeral, and it was an interview with Keanu Reeves, he’s on some nighttime talk show, and they asked him: ”What do you think happens when you die?”
‘Keanu Reeves’ answer was: ”I don’t know what happens when you die, but what I do know is that the people that loved you miss you the most.”
‘I felt that immensely. He wasn’t just a father to me. He was my colleague. We worked together in so many capacities.
‘I had recently moved, there was a period where I was between houses and I moved back in with him. So, he was my housemate in my late 30s and it was awesome. Me and the kids were living here. Just a friend, a text buddy, a joke cracker.’
The quote in question was shared by Keanu when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2019.
Jack revealed that he had flown back to the UK to join his family for Ozzy’s appearance in Black Sabbath’s farewell show at Villa Park, and went on to spend a week with them before returning home to the US.

He continued: ‘My father passed away in England on July 22 at 10am UK time. I was in Los Angeles, I’d been back in LA for about a week, after my dad’s show in Birmingham I stuck around, hung out for a week with the family at the house, my kids it was a really amazing week.
‘Some really interesting things happened that allowed that week to happen.
‘We were scheduled, my family were scheduled to go on vacation, we were supposed to go to Portugal, but my kids got sick, they all had stomach virus and it was really gross.
‘So we cancelled the trip and hung out at my family house in England for a week, it was awesome, it was sunny, my Dad was in an amazing mood he was really happy.
‘I look back on that now and I’m so grateful for my kids to have the stomach flu as I am today.’
Reflecting on the moment he learned of his dad’s death, Jack continued: ‘I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3:45am in the morning.
‘Someone who has worked for my family for about 30 years now was knocking on my door and when I looked through my window and I saw it was him, I knew something bad had happened.
‘I was informed that my father had passed,’ he added.
Reflecting on his thoughts, Jack continued: ‘So many thoughts, there was a level of like ‘okay, he’s not struggling. He’s not suffering anymore’. And that is something.

‘I wish he was still here, you know? I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go and I think people saw that at the show.’
Official documents listed three causes of death for the rock legend, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease six years ago.
This included an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction and coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction.
Ozzy was buried a week later on July 30 at the grounds of his own Buckinghamshire mansion during a private funeral attended by his family and a host of rock royalty.
The youngest child of Ozzy and Sharon insisted his dad’s legacy will continue and will not end just because his life is over.
‘He’s exploding through the universe and we’re all seeing it. So, I’ll just end with this, you know, thank you.’
In a statement shared last month, Ozzy’s family said he died ‘surrounded by love’, adding: ‘It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.’
