Insiders have revealed the shocking comments Democrats made behind the scenes of his ‘sad’ 22-minute interview.

The president sat down with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on Friday as part of a damage control strategy following his disastrous debate against Donald Trump last month.

But his muted performance once again failed to convince even those in his own party that he has the mental fortitude required for four more years.

Words like ‘heartbroken’, ‘doomed’ and ‘a f***king disaster’ were all used by more than half a dozen Congress Democrats, NBC reports.

Minnesota Rep Angie Craig, who is fighting for her seat in the battleground state, was so unconvinced she became the latest elected Democrat to call for Biden’s withdrawal.

‘There is only a small window left to make sure we have a candidate best equipped to make the case and win,’ Craig told the Washington Post.

‘Given what I saw and heard from the President during last week’s debate in Atlanta, coupled with the lack of a forceful response from the President himself following that debate, I do not believe that the President can effectively campaign and win against Donald Trump.’

Craig is the fifth sitting Democrat to call for Biden to withdraw, with another 13 members of Congress and governors expressing concern, according to a tally by the outlet.

One Dem lawmaker who previously endorsed Biden told NBC they will be breaking their silence on Biden’s fate ‘soon’.

‘It made me sad,’ they said of Biden’s interview. ‘Completely out of touch with reality and insulated from truth.’

The toe curling exchange saw Biden answer questions in a raspy, weary voice, often lose track mid-sentence and at times ignore questions in an attempt to make occasionally outlandish claims about his record.

The performance was so lackluster, that House minority leader and New York rep  Hakeem Jeffries has reportedly scheduled a call with senior White House aides on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Virginia Sen. Mark R. Warner is said to be assembling a group to try and oust the ailing president.

One senior aide told the president that he should ‘buckle up for a wild week ahead’, ABC reports.

‘Front-liners are all p***ed, and they are personally ready to pull the trigger to ask Biden to step aside, but politically they are scared s**tless,’ an anonymous aide added.

However Biden maintained his commitment to running and brushed off concerns around his mental state.

‘Look, I have a cognitive test every single day,’ Biden said referring to the tasks he faces daily in a rigorous job.

‘Every day, I have that test. Everything I do. You know, not only am I campaigning, but I’m running the world.’

But his refusal to commit to formal testing has also rankled Democrat politicians, with one describing it as an ‘issue’.

‘Opinions are hardening in many quarters that action has to be taken and that action is a different nominee,’ the lawmaker said.
