Sarah Ferguson is recuperating from her devastating skin cancer diagnosis in a luxury Austrian health clinic which has become a haven for the rich and famous.
The Duchess of York, 64, has spent the last few weeks at the Mayrlife clinic, an Austrian resort which counts the likes of Suki Waterhouse, Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss and Rebel Wilson among its clientele.
A spa on the shores of Lake Altaussee, the clinic is based on the teachings of Dr Franz Mayr, an Austrian physician who claimed that the route to physical wellbeing comes from the gut.
The clinic, formerly known as Vivamayr, puts guests on a strict regime, which includes educating people on how to change their eating habits and cleanse their digestive system.
This includes unusual methods such as getting guests, who can pay up to £6,700 for a two-week stay, to chew food up to 100 times to encourage proper digestion.

Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, who was diagnosed with skin cancer just months after being treated for breast cancer has revealed that she has been recuperating at the star-studded resort.
She had a mole removed from her body which tests have since found to be a malignant melanoma which is the most serious type of skin cancer.
It comes after the 64-year-old underwent a breast operation for cancer last year, with insiders saying it has ‘not been an easy time’ for her.
In a bid to recover from her tribulations, the Duchess has chosen to enroll in the Mayrlife clinic, which puts Dr Mayr’s teachings into practice.
According to Women’s Health, the programmes and plans are based on ‘Dr F. X. Mayr’s traditional medicine, combined with outstanding medical expertise, advanced and an extensive range of therapies.’
The resort lies directly on the shores of Lake Altaussee, surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges, with rooms starting at £390 per night, excluding treatments.
Instead guests can expect to fork out around another £2000 per week to indulge in a tailor-made programme or take up more specialised programmes, such as the Post-Covid programme that costs £6,700 for a two-week stay.
Detoxification is the core element of every programme, with an emphasis on rest, strict cleansing of the digestive system and re-education of eating habits, such as learning to slow down and chew food up to 100 times to encourage proper digestion.
The premise behind the clinic is a health regime based on intestinal cleansing that combines medical detox, personalised diets and holistic healing treatments to deliver a total health transformation in as little as seven days.
Every guest sees their doctor every single day for a check-up where their diet and medication is altered depending on progress and symptoms.

There have been a string of celebrities who go to the clinic to help give them peace of mind, last summer Suki Waterhouse posted on Instagram a photo of herself paddleboarding on the Altaussee lake.
The model, 31, documented her relaxing getaway: ‘Every year I try to go with my best friend @poppyjamie to @mayrlife_official home of the most stunning nature I’ve ever seen, the most mindful people and nurturing care you could hope for. Thank you so much for having us back @mayrlife_official.’
Supermodels Karlie Kloss and Naomi Campbell have also been known to be regular visitors.
As well as actress Rebel Wilson who wrote on social media in 2022: ‘Working the Mayr method to reset my system for the rest of the working year.’
The Pitch Perfect star, 44, paid around £4,000 a week for her health treatments, which included anti-inflammatory meals and cryotherapy treatments.
The clinic, which is lead by Medical Director Dr. Sepp Fegerl, is renowned for its strict – but incredibly effective – ‘cure’ that purges the body of toxins and promises to leave you toned, vibrant and full of energy in days.
Rebel’s 35kg weight loss was previously attributed to the strategies developed by Austrian physician Dr Franz Xaver Mayr.
However, she distanced herself from the Mayr Method in 2022, when she told her 11 million Instagram followers: ‘This was never my diet.’
