Married at First Sight hit new levels of drama this week as the participants attempted to rebuild their frazzled romances at a couples retreat in Byron Bay.

But it appears the getaway trip did more damage than good, with several marriages appearing to fall apart just minutes after checking into the resort.

According to well-placed sources, the three-day trip away sent four ‘marriages’ downhill, with wild claims one won’t last past the next commitment ceremony.

Stephen Stewart and Michael Felix’s relationship ‘was over’ at the retreat, with the spy adding ‘they had no chance in hell of mending things’.

‘They spent every minute apart when cameras weren’t rolling, and there was no hope for them. Both they and producers knew it,’ the source told Daily Mail .

Despite being on a good run, Daily Mail can also reveal that Sara Mesa and Tim Calwell had a nasty fight by the pool on the first night.

‘Tim says he felt like Sara despises him. It was really, really heated,’ one cast member disclosed.

‘Sara and Tim’s little date day was filmed on the second day to rekindle and get away from everyone.

‘The night before Sara was all of a sudden ”uncomfortable” around Jack and confided with Tori and Jack about how Tim wasn’t for her.’

Lauren Dunn and Jonathan McCullough’s trip away was equally less romantic.

‘Lauren and Jono had a heated fight after Jono told Lauren that Tori had ”malicious intent”, asking Tim if Sara was the mother of his kids,’ the source revealed.

They went on to claim Sara asked Ellie the exact same question weeks earlier at the sex workshop during intimacy week, but the retreat made Tori to be the worst person for it.

The Perth-based PR maven reportedly also had a secret alliance with Jack after they both agree that ‘Jono is behind all the issues Lauren had with the super villain’.

An insider shared that tensions escalated in the group when Jono discovered that Lauren and Jack had been speaking negatively about him, labelling him a liar when he wasn’t around.

‘Jono was understandably upset when he found out. Tim and Tristan, camera in tow, woke him up to break the news, leading to Jono’s immediate decision to leave the situation altogether,’ the source explained.

Jono’s reaction was swift and decisive.

‘He didn’t hesitate; he packed his bags, informed the production team of his decision to leave, and even started drafting his departure note,’ the insider added.

Attempts by the production team to mediate a discussion between Jono and Lauren were met with firm resistance from Jono, who was not interested in engaging further with Lauren.

However, a surprising turn of events occurred the next day.

‘Lauren approached Jono with a coffee in hand and an apology, explaining she had been manipulated by Jack, who she accused of being the real ”gaslighter” in the situation,’ the source revealed.

The situation came to a head later that evening when Jono confronted Jack about the derogatory comments during an outing with his fellow grooms.

Jono didn’t let it slide and directly asked Jack to repeat the comments he had made.

‘Jack denied knowing what Jono was referring to, but Jono pressed on, accusing him of falsehood,’ the source detailed.

In the midst of their exchange Jono confessed to a minor embellishment regarding Jack’s comments about Tori, but insisted the essence of Jack’s disrespect was accurately represented.

‘Jack’s actual words were even more dismissive, suggesting a hypothetical scenario where he would demean Tori’s appearance if she approached him in a nightclub,’ the insider concluded.
