Shocking surveillance footage captured the moment an arsonist accidentally set himself on fire trying to flee the scene and revealed his face to the cameras.

Police in Canada are searching for two suspects who set a business in Richmond ablaze on April 24.

Video shows two masked men smashing the windows and starting a fire in front of a business located in the 2600 block of Simpson Road around 4:30 a.m.

While lighting the blaze, one of the suspect’s pants caught on fire and he lost his mask as he rolled in agony.

‘Based on the nature of the fire there’s a high probability that this suspect sustained injuries to his lower body, said Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer.

‘We are asking anyone who recognizes this man or has information about this investigation to contact us.’

The two suspects approached the business on foot and broke a window before igniting the flames.

The men ran from the scene – but as one of them attempted to throw an item into the blaze his pants set alight.

He rolled on the ground trying to squash the flames and revealed his face to the surveillance camera.

Richmond police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male between 40 to 50 years old with a medium build and slicked back, long dirty blonde hair.

He was wearing a dark long-sleeved crew neck shirt and tan pants.

The second suspect, a man in his late 20s to 30s with a medium complexion and athletic build returned to help his conspirator put on the fire on his legs.

He was wearing dark colored balaclava, dark joggers with blue stripes down the side, dark gloves, a dark sweatshirt and Nike Jordan high-top sneakers.

Police said both suspects left the area on foot, one headed north on Simpson Rd. and the other suspect headed east along the railroad tracks.

Richmond Royal Canadian Mounted Police is asking anyone who may have information about this investigation or can identify the individuals involved to contact Richmond RCMP and quote file number 2024-12713.
