An n nurse has revealed why every parent should have a red cloth in their first aid kit.
Paediatric nurse Sarah Hunstead, who is behind child and first aid education group CPR Kids, said a red cloth will disguise blood and keep young ones at ease if they sustain an injury.
‘If you or your little one don’t like the sight of blood or if your little one completely freaks out at even a drop, these are a necessity,’ she said in an Instagram post.
Many opt for a white cloth in their first aids kits to press against wounds or clean up nose bleeds.
Sarah said parents of kids can’t stand the sight of blood will be better off using a red cloth to keep squeamish youngsters calmer in a stressful situation.

‘They can help with the fear and anxiety some little (and big) ones get from seeing blood, which helps to make dealing with nose bleeds or cuts easier,’ she said.
In a video the first-aid expert showed how effective a red versus a white cloth was side by side.
A teaspoon of fake blood on the darker towel looks like any liquid however on the white it shows up noticeably bright red.
Sarah added if parents can’t find a red cloth they can also use dark colours like black or navy to hide blood marks.
Parents in the comments were thankful for the handy advice.
