Hunter Biden claims his addiction has been ‘weaponized’ to attack his father President Joe Biden and that it’s been turned into a ‘vile and sustained disinformation campaign.’

In an op-ed published in USA Today on Thursday, President Biden’s son talked about his addiction, writing it consisted of a bottle of vodka a day ‘and as many hits on a crack pipe as possible.’

The piece comes as the Biden family faces scrutiny from Republicans in Congress over Hunter’s business dealings and whether or not the family profited from Joe Biden’s public office. Republicans are also weighing articles of impeachment against the president.

Hunter Biden, in the nearly 800 word essay, goes to argue his addiction was used a ‘fodder’ against his father.

‘My struggles and my mistakes have been fodder for a vile and sustained disinformation campaign against him, and an all-out annihilation of my reputation through high-pitched but fruitless congressional investigations and, more recently, criminal charges for possessing an unloaded gun for 11 days five years ago – charges that appear to be the first-ever of their kind brought in the history of Delaware,’ Hunter wrote.

And while Hunter writes ‘I am not a victim,’ he goes on to berate the media coverage of his addiction and argue it will make it harder for others to find sobriety.

‘It is already a near-impossible decision for addicts to get sober, and the avalanche of negativity and assault of my personal privacy may only make it harder for those considering it,’ Hunter writes.

He also claims nude photos of him – found on a laptop he left in a Delaware pawn shop – and published by .com and other outlets were ‘altered.’

The abandoned laptop – verified by .com as Hunter’s – was filled with nude photographs and incriminating text messages.

He complains he’s been ‘bombarded’ by ‘denigrating and near-constant coverage of me and my addiction.’

Hunter Biden became an issue in the 2020 election when Donald Trump railed against him and his foreign business dealings in Ukraine and China.

And House Republicans took up the mantle when they won control of that chamber.

House Republicans last month subpoenaed the president and Hunter’s personal and business banking records, in an attempt to connect the elder Biden to his drug-addicted son’s foreign business deals in Ukraine and China.

Biden has long said he had nothing to do with his son’s foreign business deals.

But Republican opponents remain undeterred.

In the weeks before House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted from his leadership position on October 3, he allowed the House GOP to open an impeachment inquiry into Biden.

In late September, House Republicans issued three subpoenas for Joe and Hunter’s personal and business bank records as part of the impeachment inquiry.

‘The subpoenaed bank records will help the Committees determine whether Joe Biden abused his office by selling access and/or by receiving payments or other benefits in exchange for official acts,’ said Oversight Committee Chair James Comer and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan in a joint statement.

Comer and Jordan alleged that Hunter Biden and other family members ‘sought to conceal the source of foreign income by having lucrative wires sent to Biden associates’ accounts, instead of their own accounts.’

‘We believe these records will provide insight as to where the foreign money was finally sent,’ they said.

White House spokesman Ian Sams called Republican efforts a ‘baseless wild goose chase’ to distract from a potential government shutdown.

The impeachment inquiry took a backseat, however, to the House GOP’s own drama – as the House went 22 days without a speaker after McCarthy’s ousting, only electing House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana last week.

However Johnson said on Thursday that the impeachment inquiry was back on track.

Asked if Republicans have enough evidence launch articles of impeachment against President Biden, Johnson said: ‘I have not predetermined that, but I do believe that very soon we are coming to a point of decision on it, and we are in the impeachment inquiry phase which is an important step in that phase.’
