A ‘relentless’ hero dog has been credited for saving the life of her 81-year-old owner after she suffered a stroke.

Retha Cobb fell outside her home in Dothan, Alabama, last week before she started to complain about a headache and then lost consciousness, as reported by WTVY.

Her husband Jerry was in another room and unaware that Cobb had passed out after suffering a brain injury.

But Kismet Litze, a Lhapso Apso dog, began alerting Jerry to the situation, barking relentlessly until he realized Cobb was unconscious in another room.

Doctors believe the fall caused Cobb to have a stroke, and that she could have died if she had not received medical attention when she did.

Cobb had emergency surgery and was responsive as soon as the next day.

However, on Thursday she suffered another brain bleed and was sent in for another surgery and has a long recovery ahead.

Kismet is reportedly waiting for Cobb back at their family farm in Ashford.

The dog is so heartbroken over Cobb’s absence, per the family, that she is barely eating or going outside.

Cobb and Kismet – whose name means fate or destiny – came together years ago after a nationwide search for her perfect companion.

Her daughter Aimee said it was love at first sight, with Cobb saying Kismet was ‘her destiny.’

‘We didn’t think much of it, except if it hadn’t been for the dog, we would not have been alerted to mom’s condition,’ Aimee told WTVY.
