Dave Grohl shockingly revealed on Tuesday that he fathered a baby outside of his marriage to wife of 21 years Jordyn Blum – and is already a parent to three other children.
The Foo Fighters singer, 55, expressed in a statement uploaded to Instagram that he ‘recently became the father of a new baby daughter’ and ‘plans to be a loving and supportive parent to her.’
He then expressed his love for Jordyn and their children, and stated that he is ‘doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness…’
Grohl and Blum – who tied the knot in 2003 – share three daughters: Violet, Harper and Ophelia.
Shortly after Dave shared the news to social media, DailyMail.com has now taken an inside look at the performer’s family set.

In 2008, the music artist opened up to People at the time about how parenthood has changed both him and Blum.
‘We don’t talk about how much we drank last night [anymore],’ he told the outlet. ‘[Now] it’s how much sleep we got, how much sleep the baby got, diaper rash, formula.’
‘We used to go on the road for three months at a time. It’s a struggle for me to leave for even 12 days. I realized the life I always imagined beginning once the band ended has to begin now.’
Grohl also revealed that Violet had quickly developed a passion for music.
‘Violet loves the Amy Winehouse record. It’s all about the Rehab song. If she hears “Try to make me go to rehab,” Violet will go, “No no no.” I know, it’s a little weird, but it’s really cute!’
The teenager has continued to follow in her father’s singing footsteps, and notably performed a cover of Adele’s track, When We Were Young, onstage in 2018 alongside Grohl.
The pair have also recorded music together, such as a cover for X’s Nausea, in 2021.
While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dave talked about having the chance to make music with his eldest child – and explained he was inspired to record the cover due to being a distant relative of X drummer, DJ Bonebrake.
Last year in 2023, Violet joined her father on the stage once again during the Glastonbury festival and the two sang, Show Me How (seen above)
‘It’s the first time she and I have recorded together, just the two of us,’ the former Nirvana drummer stated.
‘I’m so proud of it because I love her very much and she’s an amazing singer, but it kind of follows this lineage and family history from this guy in Switzerland to now my daughter Violet. It’s this Bonebrake family tree that means a lot to me.’
Last year in 2023, Violet joined her father on the stage once again during the Glastonbury festival and the two sang, Show Me How.
He previously recalled the special connection both he and Violet have during an interview with Today in 2021.
‘It feels weird to sit there talking to someone’s stomach and saying, like, “Hi! I can’t wait to meet you,”‘ he recalled before his daughter was born.
However, after Violet was welcomed to the world, he said, ‘I got right close to her face and and I said, “Hey, Violet, it’s me.” And she stopped screaming.’
He also remembered they soon locked eyes and explained, ‘We’ve been like that ever since.’
Following Grohl’s revelation that he fathered a child – another daughter – outside of his marriage to Jordyn, Violet has seemingly deactivated her Instagram account.
Harper, 15

The pair named their daughter after the singer’s great uncle, Harper Bonebrake.
The teenager also has musical talents, and while appearing on The Graham Norton Show in 2021, he recalled the special moment when Paul McCartney gave Harper her very first piano lesson.
‘We have wine and pizza and we’re hanging out, and it was time for Paul to go,’ Dave explained at the time.
‘Paul and [his wife] Nancy were leaving, and there was a piano in the corner of the room, and he just can’t help himself.’
Grohl added, ‘So he sits down at the piano and starts playing Lady Madonna in my f***ing house! My mind is blown. I can’t believe this is happening. This is like the most full-circle, crazy moment of my entire life.’
The star then shared, ‘[Harper had] never taken a lesson to play any instrument at that point, and she sat down and she watched his hands.’
‘They sat together, and he was showing her what to play, and they wrote a song together.’
Harper is also no stranger to performing with her father on stage. Back in 2018 during a benefit concert, she notably played the drums with Dave and sister Violet as they performed The Sky Is a Neighborhood.
Ophelia, 10

She has already been involved in the entertainment industry and in 2019 – both Dave and Ophelia made an appearance in the Nick Jr. series titled, Ryan’s Mystery Playdate.
The music artist told People at the time, ‘My daughter has been watching the show constantly. So, it’s like meeting a real rockstar. I’m not the rockstar here. Ryan is.’
Over the years, the 10-year-old has also been seen joining her siblings and parents on the red carpet.
Last year in 2023, she flashed a cheerful smile at the 65th Grammy Awards with her father, Blum and her sisters Violet and Harper.

The identity of the women he fathered his fourth child with is not known – and the star also deactivated comments on the new post.
The singer has previously opened up about the importance of family and told TIME Magazine in 2010, ‘I don’t like being away from my kids.’
‘I don’t like being away from them for more than 12 days,’ he further expressed. ‘But everything in my life has changed. The band is not the most important thing in my life.’
