A group of theater-goers watching the latest entry in the popular horror franchise Final Destination experienced a real-life plot twist straight out of the film’s script.

During a screening of the new flick Final Destination: Bloodlines in La Plata, Argentina, a chunk of ceiling collapsed from above – nearly killing an audience member in a frightening scene echoing the film itself.

Fiamma Villaverde was celebrating her birthday and brought her 11-year-old daughter and a friend to the showing at the Cinema Ocho theater on Monday.

The 29-year-old told Infobae that she initially did not have plans to see the sixth installment of the series, where death typically follows those who try to avoid fatal accidents.

‘It was my birthday, we were walking and happened upon the theater,’ Villaverde told the outlet.

‘Since the tickets were cheaper than the rest of the week, we said, ‘Shall we?’ We went in, bought some popcorn, and went into the theater.’

The movie was nearly over when Villaverde was stunned by what she thought were sound effects.

‘There was a really loud noise. At first, we thought it was part of the movie because we were so absorbed; but then a huge piece fell on me,’ she explained.

The mother was struck on the knee and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

‘It didn’t hit me in the head because I was just leaning a little over the armrest,’ she said.

Villaverde recalled the theater manager’s attempt to sweep the incident under the rug after she asked for a refund.

‘He asked, ‘How do you want to fix this?” she said.

She lost her temper and snapped back, ‘How do I want to fix this? I’m going to file a complaint,’ she said.

‘Just imagine if they hit my daughter in the head! They’re irresponsible!’

Villaverde is now undergoing treatment for a previous diagnosis for panic attacks and an anxiety disorder.

‘I have a hard time being in crowded places. I haven’t been to the movies in years,’ she explained.

‘I went because it was my birthday, and look what happened to me.’

The accident has forced Villaverde to miss several days from her custodian job at a local bar.

‘I haven’t filed a complaint yet, but I’ve contacted a lawyer,’ she said.

‘Who’s going to take care of this?’
