A top Hollywood writer and producer has been accused of raping an aspiring writer after offering to mentor him.

Laurence Andries, 66, has been charged with sodomy, oral copulation and sexual penetration while the victim was unconscious by the use of a drug, as reported by ABC7.

‘I believe that he drugged one of my drinks, took me to his place and then… I can’t say the word. I’m sorry, I can’t say it,’ the alleged victim, identified as John Doe, told the outlet.

Andries, who has worked on various hit shows including Six Feet Under and Blue Bloods, was arrested last August in Los Angeles and released on bond.

John Doe, a military veteran, claimed he met the producer at a writers’ program and they became friends. He added that he was always upfront about being heterosexual.

‘I never even thought I had to say “This (expletive) is never going to happen,”‘ John Doe told ABC7.

The alleged assault happened after the two went out for drinks in June 2022.

John Doe said he contacted police the immediately despite fear of how speaking up would affect his career in Hollywood.

The aspiring writer added that he came forward publicly because he and detectives believe there are other victims. 

Andries is scheduled in court next month. 

The Hollywood veteran was nominated for an Oscar in 1994 for his writing on the live action short Kangaroo Court.

He has also worked on other hit shows such as Alias, How to Get Away with Murder, Supernatural and Being Mary Jane.

Andries serves as an advisor the Writers Guild Foundation, where he also served as VP of programming, according to their website.

Many military veterans turned writers have previously posted about  Andries, describing him as a beloved mentor on social media. 

Freelance writer Adam Korenman spoke highly of Andries in a 2019 post.

‘Some of the best career advice I ever heard came from Larry Andries, an incredible writer/producer/human,’ Korenman wrote. 

‘He said, “Don’t be an as*****.” No matter what kind of writer you want to be, treat everyone with respect. Be empathetic. It’ll make you a better writer and person.’

Anyone with information about additional potential crimes involving Andries has been asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.

He has continued to post on Facebook following his arrest.

In his last post, from February 24, he wrote alongside a selfie: ‘The future looks bright, and wonderfully immersive.’ 

Andries appears to have deleted his Facebook account after after being contacted by a DailyMail.com reporter for comment.
