BBC breakfast viewers were left surprised after its weatherman had an awkward blunder live on air.
The BBC Breakfast star, was interrupted by a phone alarm live on air and exclaimed ‘I’ve got to go!’
Simon King, left the presenters in fits of laughter after his phone alarm went off during the weather forecast.
Midway through his segment the subtle ring of an alarm could be heard coming from his pocket.
Simon nonchalantly pulled out his phone and said: ‘That’s my alarm telling me I’ve got to go on Radio 4 very very shortly.’
Smiling, Simon continued to explain the forecast, ending by telling Naga Munchetty and Ben Thompson, ‘There you go.’
Naga jokingly jibed at Simon, she said: ‘So shall we do like two, three minutes of chat now.’
Simon replied: ‘If we do I’ll be running up the stairs and people will think I had a heart attack.’
Ben added: ‘Well we know you’re a busy man Simon.’
Simon did have to excuse himself immediately after his forecast, dashing off screen he exclaimed: ‘I’ve got to go, sorry!’
The presenter shared the video on his X page.
In the post Mr King said: ‘When you’re doing the weather on @bbcbreakfast but also need to do the weather on @BBCRadio 4.’
The caption was followed by emojis of a clock, camera, and a crying with laughter face.
His followers were quick to laugh with the presenter.
One user said: ‘I saw it Simon, you handled it really well.’
Another user added: ‘Simon. Exceptional work!! But you can’t split yourself in two.’
Simon joined the BBC Weather Centre in 2008, and regularly presents the weather forecast on BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5.
He started working for the Met Office in 2005 for a specialist unit of forecasters who are sponsored reserved officers in the RAF.
