Volunteers are desperately searching for newborn puppies after a heavily pregnant dog was abandoned and tied to a tree having given birth.
‘Gorgeous’ staffie Lola – who has now been renamed Misty – was discarded by her owner who had bred her for puppies.
The five-year-old dog was tragically found abandoned after her owner took away the pups to sell.
According to rescue charity Carla Lane Animals, the ‘despicable’ owner kept two and hid the remaining young dogs at another address.
Five of the missing dogs have been found, along with the two which were found at the owner’s home – but the last three are yet to be found in the Wigan and Leigh area of Liverpool.
Five of the adorable puppies are up for adoption – named Frisco, Ranger, Josie, Jazz and Evie.
A post on the charity’s Facebook page read: ‘The news that you have been waiting for. Misty’s pups have had their vaccination, worming, chip and health check today at the rescue.
‘They are in a foster home and we are now inviting applications for five star homes for these five lovely pups.
‘They are cross staffie pups who are nine weeks old at the moment.
‘We are looking for homes who are prepared to put in the work to train and socialise the puppies and who can offer long term commitment.
‘It is a condition of adoption that all our dogs are neutered at the appropriate time and we do a recall for this and it is covered as part of the adoption fee.
‘We are looking for homes where someone is home most of the day. The puppies can live with another dog as long as neutered, dog savvy cats, and children 12 plus.’
Yesterday, the page revealed that volunteers had tracked down three more of the lost puppies.
A post read: ‘Due to the sheer determination of one lady and her band of followers three more pups recovered and safe
‘Well done you know who you are. There were 10 pups born.
‘We now know that the despicable woman who dumped Lola (now Misty) tied to a tree has been tracked down and still had two of her pups!
‘We have reason to believe that the abuser has hidden puppies at another address.
‘If you have any information please contact us in confidence.
‘The two pups are safe now but we would like to get the other pups safe and into safe loving homes. These pups are in the Wigan and Leigh area.
‘This behaviour has no place in civilised society, it’s appalling and we will always highlight such wicked cruelty.’
